Historically, the dance is meant to represent a certain sense of elevated status among those who take part in it, and is often performed at galas, balls and other formal occasions celebrated

According to beliefs, the patron saint rejoices at this kind of celebrations and intercedes for the honoree in his wish for longlife, happiness, and safety from accidents and bad luck. Commonly performed to welcome guests and to wish them good life, health and luck. It is also done during birthdays, anniversaries, graduations or any special events that a person is thankful of and praying for a blessed path in life.

● DUGSO
The Dugso, of the Manobos in Bukidnon, is danced during harvest time and upon the birth of a male heir. Colorful costumes and ornaments enhance the appearance of the participants: women wearing feathered headdress and plaid costumes steps rhythmically, some using bell anklets as the sole accompaniment, to punctuate their movements, others use bamboo drums or bambooguitars. A fire is lit in the belief that the smoke will carry the offering up to the gods.

to a number of rail species, but the name typically refers to the slaty breasted Rail (Gallirallus striotus), the buff-banded Rail (Galirallus philippensis), and the barred rail (Gallirallus torquatus).
