2 Weeks Later...

"Your honor my client lost custody of his daughter the day his baby mother Miyanna Johnson passed away from a drug overdose in the home that his daughter found her own mother in. Ma'am I don't think Kalani's grandmother should be in custody of her granddaughter if she too went through the same situation when she was younger"

Again. I was in court. But not for murder, attempted murder, or robbery. I was in court for my child.

Never thought when I was younger I would have to be put up on this. But now I'm fighting to have my kid in my own custody.

"Your honor I don't think Kevin is responsible in being in custody with his daughter who is in the care of Ms. Johnson. He is a convicted murder who also has a past of robbery when he was younger. He did his first murder trial when he was the age of just 19 when also his first baby mother was pregnant with his first child"

My lawyer got up, "Your honor my client went down on self-defense meaning the case was closed. He remained in custody for only four months. That was the last crime that he ever committed"

I think Justine lawyer doing a good job but at the same time he really wasn't getting to the point I really wanted him too. All they doin is bringing up my past charges and unnecessary stuff. What this gotta do with getting my daughter back? was all I was questioning.

"What about his other charges? are you sure you want a felon to be in the custody of a child? he doesn't even have custody of his other three children!"

The judge turned to me before looking at my lawyer, "and why is that?"

"Your honor the only reason why the mother took them was simply because him and her aren't together, but they did make a statement that he would be visiting his children when he chooses too or when the kids want to. This whole process is about getting his daughter Kalani Perez back in the hands of her father ever since Miyanna Johnson has passed. The grandmother is most likely not in the right hand of being the guardian to this 10 year old who wants and begs to be in the care of her father. This has nothing to do with his other children"

Mya moms lawyer ain't know what to say else cause she know it's true. Kalani already said what she chose and wanted. And that was her pops.

"And I wonder why she left him. If Kevin couldn't maintain to help Miyanna with her drug addiction what makes you think he can maintain the child he had with her?"

I ain't wanna go back and forth with this. Ion understand what she even trynna say.

Mya got her drug addiction cause she wanted too. I haven't got back in a relationship with Mya in a decade so why would I even bother to care what she had goin on when she was alive?

As long as Kalani was ight that's the thing that mattered.

"Your honor my client was not in a relationship with Mya when she passed. There is actual proof of this as well. Kalani said multiple times that she would love to be in the care of her father and not her grandmother because of the abuse and because of the hard work she puts this poor 10 year old child through. My client has a total of four kids and is a great father to them all as what was said by his baby mother Justine. Kalani loves her father and is willing to live with him regardless of his past because he has changed as a person and so has his behavior. This case isn't about his past where he committed crimes when he was a minor which was before he had children, it isn't about the crime he committed when he first became an adult, and it isn't about his other three children. This is about him getting his daughter back and having full custody"

The judge looked between me, my lawyer, Mya moms, and ha lawyer until she looked in the back looking at Kalani.

The judge went through reading paperwork which it took her a while to do. My hands where shakin as I rubbed them down my face. My legs where shaking and honestly I felt like cryin if I'ma be real. If Mya moms wins this case I can't fight to have Kalani back anymore.
