"So," I started off with, spraying Mina's hair and combing it. " It was my dad's day off and I had finally finished helping him with all the chores and other things. So when we went to the mall to surprise my mom, he bought me those headphones. As a gift for being a good daughter. And..." I trailed off, lining Mina up for her braid.
"And?"Mina moved.
"If you move this braid is going to fuck up. Oh yeah. Momo or Mina, do you guys have any tiny elastic bands?"
"No." Both of them replied.
"I do, kero." Asui said.
"May I use them Asui?"
"Call me Tsu."
"Sorry. Tsu."
"Sure, kero." She walked over to her bag and grabbed some for me.
"Thank you. Anyways, on the way back, my dad and I were listening to the radio, singing our hearts out. It was the song Ella Baila Sola by Eslabon Armado and Peso Pluma. We were going through an intersection before we were hit by an oncoming big rig. We flipped over and over before I finally hit my head on the door, and I knocked out."
"Oh, dear..." Momo said.
"Mhm." Mina had her first braid done and I secured it with an elastic band. I went to the next one, lining it up. "So when I woke up in the hospital, I wasn't worried about anything but my dad. He was the best thing ever. And he was gone. My mom hugged me while we both sobbed together." My voice started breaking. "And... I'm sorry. Give me a second."
"Of course, kero," Tsu said. I took a deep breath, wiping my tears on my shoulder sleeve.
"Ok. My mom said that he left something for me. I still have it. Give me a second though." I finished the braid quickly. I took my phone out of my pocket and played the audio.
"Hey, baby." Some of the girls were forming tears. Mine were already falling. I had to lean back in the beanbag to avoid tears. "We just got in the car accident and you weren't awake. And I don't think I'm going to make it. I love you. So much. So much more than you can possibly imagine. Take the headphones I bought as my way of saying goodbye. Goodbye. I will always be with you. I'm so proud of... you."
"Ma'am he has to go into surgery no-" The audio ended. I looked back up to see the girls crying.
"So yeah. And what's worse." I finished Mina's second braid and began securing it. "The big rig driver didn't have a scratch on him. He didn't get anything done to him." I began lining up Mina's other braid before she smacked my hand away, turned around, and hugged me. That was it. I started crying lightly into her shirt. The others joined in a group hug. They all back away after a while. "That's why I loved those headphones."
"Well, they were the same ones," Uraraka spoke up.
"How do you know?"
"I followed Bakugo. He took the pieces to the support course. They fixed it and he went to school and set them on your desk today.
"Oh..."
"He looked sorry."
"Well if he was, he wouldn't have broken it. But anyway. Mina, I'm going to finish it really quickly and then we can do my surprise.
"Kay!." I lined her up and some of the girls began talking about random things. Once I finished, everyone seemed to stare at me.
"I'm not done yet." I wet Mina's hair completely, making an indented bubble to act as a hair bowl to wet her whole hair. My bubble absorbs liquid so I had to be quick about it. I used Mina's products and gave her beautiful curls.
