Jay was something else. There is something about him that I just can't shake. He's got me attracted just by first impression; I didn't even think it was even possible.

"So, where do you live?" Jay asked, trying to find his breath at a steady pace.

"In a house." I smiled with a sarcastic grin. He looked right at me like I had just killed a panda in front of him.

"It's all the way down the road, the first house on the right." I sighed pointing down the road then placing them in my jacket pockets.

"No seriously. Where do you live?" He asked believing that what I had previously said was some sort of joke it was pulling on him.

"Seriously, I live there. Unfortunately." I said and stared at the black pavement beneath me.

"Wow! That is a huge house. Are you rich or something?" He asked, still trying to process the fact that I am not one of the poor girls you see as an outcast, and that I'm just a girl who doesn't flaunt the rich girl stereotype.

"You could say that." I fiddled with my thumbs in my pockets, walking a little slower, stalling my mind from getting home. I'd rather stay out all night talking to Jay. I don't know why; it was just so easy to talk to him.

"You wish you were an only child; I suppose?" He asked, grabbing my hand.

"All the time." I scoffed and lowered my head and looked back up to his blue-gray eyes. He laughed feeling the truth behind my previous comment. "Why are you asking me all of these questions?" I asked as my face lit up.

"Just trying to gather up information for the next time I see you." A smile tugged at his lips.

"Really? What makes you think there will be a next time?" I suddenly wondered if I was going to see him again. I honestly hope I do; in the end he seems to be the only one who really understands me.

"Well. I-I was hoping we would run into each other sometime soon." He hesitantly replied.

I hoped so too. I thought as I walked up to my driveway.

I came back down to Earth, "This is me. I should probably get inside."

I slowly turned praying that he would stop me in my path.

"Wait!" He caught up to me tugging at my wrist bringing me to a stop. "Wanna hang out at the mall tomorrow?" He asked afraid of what my answer would be.

"Hmmmm, I guess you will have to wait for that answer, now won't you?" I bopped his nose with my index finger, flipped my hair in his face as I turned around containing my smile. I walked in the door and leaned against it biting my lip, thinking about what had just happened, thinking it was just a dream. Just when everything was perfect, my mom walked in,

"Elizabeth, where were you?" My mom asked persistently.

My smile dropped to a frown immediately.

"Somewhere. With a friend." I walked up the stairs and stopped by the feeling of a cold hand grabbing my arm. I glared at my mother's hand on my arm,

"Why so worried mom? Are you afraid I was with some boy and we went back to his place?" I asked knowing that was what she was thinking. With disbelief all over my face I shouted at her as she looked at my feet, "Are you serious?! You seriously think I was with a guy at his place, didn't you?" I asked more, demanding an answer. "Didn't you?!?" I yelled waiting for her honest answer.

"Yes! Okay? That thought crossed my mind." She yelled with the same amount of frustration in her voice.

"Well, I didn't. I just took an extra-long walk by myself and a friend met up with me. Alright? So, chill! This is exactly why I don't talk to you. You are always arguing with me. Why can't we just have a normal conversation?" I said as I reached my bedroom door and slammed the door behind me.
