"I'm not marrying you, okay?" I said without hesitation to the man in front me looking at me seriously.

"So do I." He uttered coldly. "That's why I didn't come to your house when your father invited me. Instead I asked you for a dinner, so that we can talk about how to persuade our parents not to marry us."

I calmed myself by drinking my tea.

It's good to know that he doesn't want to marry me. Hindi na kailangan ni Jayde gumawa ng paraan para hindi ako maikasal sa lalaking 'to.

"I forgot to introduce myself, I'm Marky by the way," he said in a formal tone. "And I'm glad to know that you don't want to marry me either. Tho I was shocked to know that you don't want me." He looked at me directly. "Come on, ako na 'to e, girls usually wants me to marry them. Tapos ikaw, you rejected me."

Ang yabang naman talaga ng lalaking 'to. May hitsura naman talaga siya, hindi ko iyon maipagkakaila. Matangkad siya, may matangos na ilong, malaki ang katawan, malalim ng mga mata. Halatang galing sa mayamang pamilya, kaso mayabang.

"I'm not one of those girls who crawled over you, Marky. Now let's go to business, paano natin mapapapayag ang mga magulang natin na huwag tayong ikasal?"

He shifted his weight.

"Actually I know the solution for that," he said. "I'm marrying my girlfriend, and all you have to do is to tell your parents about it. I'm going to tell my parents tonight."

May plano naman pala siyang magpakasal sa girlfriend niya, bakit niya pa ako inayang mag dinner? He could've told me about it over the phone. Hindi ko tuloy napuntahan si Jayde sa bahay niya.

"Sana sinabi ko na lang 'yan sa tawag," saad ko. "I cancelled my plans because of this dinner, you know."

"I'm sorry about that," he speak slowly. "I thought you'd want to marry me that's why I asked you to have a dinner with me, so that I could reject you politely." He grinned.

I rolled my eyes. Ang yabang.

Nagsalita siya ulit, pero hindi na ako nakinig dahil napako ang tingin ko sa dalawang taong kapapasok lang sa restaurant.

Mel is walking toward the empty table, behind her is Jayde walking with her books on her hand.

Mel motioned the chair to Jayde. Jayde hesitated first, she heave a sigh, and look at Mel darkly before taking her seat.

Mel smiled awkwardly.

She again asked Jayde. Probably asking what's her order, but Jayde shrugged, as if she's not interested with Mel.

"It looks like the girl over there doesn't want to be with that woman who looks older than her," Marky said suddenly.

Agad akong napatingin sa kanya.

"Why do you say so?" Tanong ko.

"Look, you can tell it by looking at her face. 'Yong mukha niya, parang napilitan lang. Mukhang hindi nga siya interesado sa pinagsasabi no'ng babae."

Tiningnan ko ulit si Jayde na ngayo'y matamlay na kumakain habang magana namang lumalamon si Mel sa harapan niya.

"That girl over there is your manager, right?" Biglang tanong ni Marky.

"Yup, she is."

Marky grinned.

"And the other girl?" He asks teasingly.

I rolled my eyes.

"Mind your own business."

Humalakhak lang siya at nagpatuloy na sa pagkain. Tahimik ko ring kinain ang pagkain ko habang pasulyap sulyap sa table ni Mel at Jayde.
