"Your mother, and Jayde's mother, dated for six years," Daddy said.

Naupo kami sa couch habang nagsisimula siyang magkwento tungkol sa nakaraan ni Mommy.

"What? Six years?" I asked shocked.

Daddy nodded.

"Me and Jayde's father witnessed their love. We saw how they loved, and cherished each other. Your mother was sure to marry Jayde's mother, but she married her husband right now, without telling your mother."

Malungkot na tumingin si Daddy sa akin.

"Your mother was furious, and heartbroken, she almost end her life." Pumikit si Daddy nang mariin. "Hindi niya matanggap na iniwan siya ng babaeng mahal niya. Mas lalo siyang nagalit at nasaktan, dahil ang pinakasalan ay ang matalik niyang kaibigan."

"Do you mean that, Jayde's father was mom's best friend?" I asked.

"Yeah, he was my best friend too, but I cut my connections with him, when he married that woman."

"Then, you guys were friends back then?" Tanong ko.

"We were."

I didn't know that Jayde's family, and mine has history like this.

"That's why when your mother found out that you're dating the first born of her ex, she stormed into my office. She was furious, and afraid. Ayaw niyang matulad ka sa nangyari sa kaniya noon."

Tumingin sa akin si Daddy, na para bang humihingi siya ng pasensya dahil sa ginawa ni Mommy sa akin.

"You see, your mother was heartbroken when Jayde's mother married her best friend. At no'ng nalaman ng Mommy mo na buntis na ang babaeng mahal niya, he went to me, and asked me to marry her."

"Then, you married her despite of knowing the truth that she loves someone else?" Tanong ko.

"I married her, because I can't stand seeing her that broken. I married her because I love her."

Uminom ako ng juice na nilapag ng kasambahay namin habang nag uusap kami ni Daddy. I need to cool myself, I can't take this too much revelation.

"Daddy, anong rason ng mommy ni Jayde? Bakit siya nagpakasal sa iba ng hindi man lang nakipaghiwalay kay mommy?" I asks curiously.

Daddy sigh and smiled.

"She has the same reason with Jayde." Tumingin si Daddy sa akin. "They both want to protect their beloved."

"What do you mean, Daddy?" Naguguluhan kong tanong.

"Same sex relationship back then is not fully accepted by the society. Jayde's grandparents were opposed to that, gano'n din sa mga lolo at lola mo. Jayde's mother, married a man to protect your mother. She protected her from your grandfather's wrath. Your grandmother, talked to Jayde's mom, and asked her to stay away from your mother."

Natutop ko ang bibig dahil sa narinig.

"Does mommy knows about this?" Tanong ko.

Umiling si Daddy.

"Mrs. Mallari doesn't want your mother to know about her reason. She rather want her to hate her for the rest of her life."

Jayde is really like her. Gano'n din ang ginawa niya, ayaw niyang ipaalam sa akin ang dahilan niya, kahit alam niyang magagalit ako sa kaniya.

"Daddy, alam mo po bang may girlfriend ako noon?"

Humagalpak si Daddy at tumingin sa akin.

"I know, anak. Hinihintay ko lang na magsabi ka."
