I sipped my cup of coffee as I stared out of the window. Currently, I was curled up on a couch sipping coffee and reading a book about war. I adjusted my glasses and turned back to my book. The voices were surprisingly listening when I asked them to be quiet. They were still talking, but quietly. I liked it.
I continued reading my book until I heard something that made me pause. "Rest in Power." A voice said. "o7." Another said, and I may have imagined it, but I heard a tiny sniffle. "I miss him." A different voice said sadly. I chose to ignore it, but then I heard a sound from the window. I looked outside and my eyes widened when I realised who it was.
"Clementine?!" I said in shock, putting my book and coffee down. I rushed over to the window and quickly opened it. Clementine immediately flew in and tackled me to the ground. They pressed into me and it took me a moment to realise what they were doing.
"Clementine... Are you hugging me?" I said and they nuzzled into my chest as I smiled. I sat up against the couch and held them tightly. "I thought you were mad at me?" I said quietly, rubbing their handle as they hugged me. They floated back and faced me.
"I was... But I forgive you." They said, moving into my chest again as I smiled. "Thanks, Clementine," I said, closing my eyes and enjoying the moment. The voices started speaking louder and I opened my eyes, a bit annoyed.
"He was a legend." A voice said sadly. "Well, legends live forever, don't they?" A voice said, trying to reassure the other voices, but their voice broke. "One year... Wow." A different voice said quietly. I groaned and looked at Clementine. "I- I miss you..." Someone said quietly.
I thought it was the voices, but to my surprise, it was Clementine. "W-What?" I said, my eyes widening. "It- It feels so unreal that it's been a year..." They murmured, and I felt them tremble slightly. "Clementine, you're starting to act like the voices," I said with a laugh and Clementine paused.
"He will be forever missed." A voice said with determination. "No matter how long it's been, he will forever be with us." Another voice said sadly. "o7." A voice said in response. Confusion increased in me, but I just shook my head and ignored it. It was getting confusing.
This moment gave me a sense of déjà vu, however. "I've been here before..." I muttered and started to think. There was another moment when the voices acted like this... But I couldn't think of the moment.
"Techno?" Clementine said quietly, moving back a bit. I smiled and looked at them. "Yeah?" I said. "You... You are not angry at me, right?" They mumbled, and I thought I heard a hint of sadness in their voice. "No, of course not!" I said quickly, rubbing them, trying to comfort them.
"Why... Why would you think that?" I mumbled, looking down at them. Clementine paused and nuzzled into me. "I... I miss you. I shall never forget you." Clementine said and the voices started speaking louder. "They're right." A voice said as other voices voiced their similar opinions. I laughed, confused.
"Seriously, you guys are acting like someone died."
