Emily... we gotta call your dad.

A few miles away from camp, a car drove down the road, containing one FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper.

"Diane, it's 1:48 PM. I'm 15 minutes away from Sunny Day Excursions, the camping site that Sheriff Beau Arlen has directed me to. Apparently, a missing backpacker has been found dead by a handful of teenagers in the woods, claiming that he was murdered. By who, they are not certain. But I believe it might be the one over in Twin Peaks. And although I'm not positive now, a closer look should do a lot of good..."

A few hours earlier

Sheriff Beau picked up the phone. "Em?"

"Dad!"

"Em, what's going on? Is something wrong?"

"T-The missing backpacker." Emily stammered, scared out of her mind.

"Why? What about him?"

"We found him. He's dead."

Beau paused. "Hold on, slow down. 'We?'"

"Me... And my friends at camp. We found him."

"And you're sure he's dead?"

"Yes, I'm sure! There's blood everywhere!"

"Ok, where exactly are you? Right now?"

"Deadman's Drop. It's a closed trail, but we... Just kinda went anyway."

"Stay right where you are. I'm coming."

Beau hung up, and Emily panicked, breathing heavily. "He's on his way."

"What does he want us to do?" Blonson asked nervously.

"Stay put."

Charly put his hands on his head. "This is bad. We're not just running away from Last Men now, we're dealing with an actual dead guy!"

"Ok, what were you guys actually doing the other day?" Emily snapped, clearly now full of fear. "Because Avery never told me."

The boys all looked to each other, not knowing who should speak first.

"Uhhhhh..."

"It's kind of a crazy story." Yung Penguin spoke up.

"Well, I got time."

"Why does he even want us to stay?" M-Nastee countered. "Everybody else at camp is gonna be worried."

"There's a dead body here!" Emily shouted. "If we leave, someone might take it and my dad will have come for no reason! Now, stop changing the subject!"

Jeremy groaned. "Dude, I think you'd better go ahead and tell her."

Curdis sighed. "Have you ever heard of Hybrids?"

"You mean the half-animal, half-human kids that the news says are dangerous?"

"Yeah. We... Helped one."

Emily raised an eyebrow. "What does that mean?"

"There's a boy." Blonson continued. "His name is Gus. We found him in Curdis' shed one morning, and that's how we started on our Spring Break trip. He wanted to find his real mom."

"You helped a Hybrid for Spring Break?" She questioned, still not really understanding what they were trying to explain.

"He's not dangerous!" Steve added. "He's just a kid. A really cool deer kid."
