Chairman Byun

Baekhyun's uneasiness is hard not to notice while sitting down inside his father's office. He was so nervous that he can't bring himself to appreciate how grand the Chairman's office is. He keeps fidgeting on his sit while biting his lips, waiting for the Chairman who still in a meeting according to Mr.Kim. Baekhyun is so nervous that he feels that his heart will explode any minute.

Baekhyun literally jumps up from his sit when the door suddenly opens and two men enters which are the Chairman and Mr. Kim. Baekhyun straightened his back only to bow 90 degrees to the powerful man who happens to be his father.

" Take a sit. " Baekhyun heard him says. He muttered a silent " Thank you, sir. ", before sitting down, both hands on his lap, twisting his fingers out of nervousness.

" It's been awhile. " The Chairman spoke again.

Baekhyun feels he's been really rude for not meeting the old man's eyes, forced his self to raised his head and looked at him.

" Yes, sir. I-it's been five years. " Baekhyun bit his lips again and sighed inwardly before he continued. " Have you've been well,sir? ". Forcing himself not to break the eye contact from his father.

The Chairman nods gently but his face remains stoic. He looks older and more intimidating than ever. Baekhyun thought to himself as he shifts down his gaze again to his hands on his lap, the feeling of discomfort is increasing every passing seconds .

The Chairman examined Baekhyun's intently. Though he is not showing any emotions or affections to his younger child, the Chairman loves Baekhyun and if he have any other way to be a father to him, he will gladly do it. But their relationship has been strained since the day they first met. Baekhyun calling him " sir " is proof enough.

When he received a letter from Baekhyun's mother, revealing they have a son together, he never for a second doubted that Baekhyun is his. Not because of the picture of Baekhyun that she sent together with the letter but because deep inside him he knew that maybe the reason of his former lover's disappearance was because she was bearing his child.

Baekhyun's mother was a singer when he met her as a performer on one of the business party that he attended. He was already married with Yeri's mother that currently pregnant with her. Baekhyun's mother was a great singer with angelic voice, she was very charming specially when she smiled.

" Baekhyun is a good and well behaved child, he is cheerful and very charming like me. He can sing very well too. He is very smart which he got from you.. " - part of her letter says.

Baekhyun strongly resembles his father but his mother beautiful attributes makes Baekhyun face looks more softer and feminine. The picture of him holding his birthday cake on his 13th birthday while smiling at the camera, shows that Baekhyun got his mother's smile. Charming and bewitching. Adding the cheerful and positive attitude that said woman possessed, the Chairman fell in love with her. The affair lasted not very long until she suddenly vanished, leaving him with a note saying her conscience have been eating her up and cannot continue being a kept woman. It breaks the Chairman's heart but he respected and accepted whatever she said in that note. He focused on building his empire and being a good father to Yeri and husband to her mother. But never for a second that he regretted meeting Baekhyun's mother. He keeps loving her to the deepest part of his heart.

" My days are numbered and I will leave my precious Baekhyun- your son soon. I want to fight death for him until I can see him ready to face life alone but my body is succumbing to my illness. I believed in my heart that in the short time we were together that you cared for me as much. Please take care of him for me. Please owned him as your son. I'm not asking for you to give him part of your wealth, I will never ask for that. I just want to make sure that Baekhyun will get the best education. His IQ level is a genius and I don't want it to go to waste just because he is struggling alone in life. You know that I'm an orphan and it already breaks my heart that I failed to give Baekhyun a family, he only have me and now I'm leaving him too. Please help him to be someone who achieved his dreams and goals in life. And please protect him from your family's wrath. Baekhyun is innocent, it's not his wishes or fault that he was born out of infidelity. My boy deserves all the love and care in the world, he deserves so much than being hurt and alone. Please do everything in your power to protect him. I'm begging you.. "
