His Final Effort

Baekhyun looks up at the grand tower in front of him, it is a black and gold building with 61 floors, and a blinding PARK EMPIRES is written in solid gold at the front entrance. Baekhyun fixed his backpack on his shoulder while clutching an envelope in his right hand. He feels more uncomfortable when he stepped inside the building, everywhere he sets his eyes are screaming luxuries and grandeur. No doubt that the Parks are on the top five of most influential business in Korea together with the Byuns. Baekhyun walks towards the receptionist who's throwing unwanted glances at him. Maybe because of what he is wearing, he is totally out of place. But Baekhyun gathers all his confidence to walk towards the receptionist who's scrutinizing him the moment he enters the building.

Baekhyun clears his throat before he manages to say something.

" Uhm, good afternoon. I'm here to see Mr. Park Chanyeol please. "

The receptionist gave him a look like what he said is the most absurd things she ever heard in her life.

" I'm sorry, sir. But do you have an appointment with the CFO?" She asked him in a bored voice.

" No, I don't have. " Baekhyun bit his lip and lower his head. How come he didn't realize earlier that he needs an appointment to see Chanyeol in his office?

" Then I'm sorry to inform you that you can't meet with the CFO without an appointment. And today is very busy because of the launching tomorrow. The CFO will be on a meeting the whole day. " She explained to him with a subtle smirk on her lips to which Baekhyun didn't failed to notice. He clutched the envelope on his hand weighing to himself if he will just leave it in the hands of the rude receptionist.

" Baekhyun??! "

Baekhyun looks back to see Junmyeon standing meters away from him. He looks tired and seems didn't have sleep based on the dark circles around his eyes. " What are you doing here?" He asks again when Baekhyun didn't say a word and just stares at him.

" U-uhmm , I came here to see Chanyeol. " Baekhyun managed to answers him while the receptionist eyes widen as she discreetly listens to them.

Junmyeon noticed the envelope that Baekhyun is holding, he clutched it like his whole life depends on it. " Is it important to see him now? Why not wait for him at home? "

" I need to see him now. " Baekhyun said in a low voice, his hand gripping harder to the envelope in his hands.

" But Chanyeol is very busy right now, I don't think he can accommodate you. This is a crucial time for everyone here. " Junmyeon looks around then back again to Baekhyun who is now fidgeting to where he stands. He can sense that Baekhyun is battling something inside him. Junmyeon let out a sigh. He is dying to get home and sleep. He's been here since two in the morning when Chanyeol called him in for help.

" Call Chanyeol's office. I will talk to his assistant. " Baekhyun turns his gazes from the floor back to Junmyeon when he heard what he said. The receptionist was shocked but do what she was told of. After the other line had been answered, she gave the phone to Junmyeon.

" This is Kim Junmyeon. Listen, I will send someone now. His name is Pa- Baekhyun.. " Junmyeon hesitated with the last name and thought to himself that saying Byun will automatically connect the man in front of him with Yeri who everyone knows in this building as the girlfriend of Chanyeol, at least, according to the news. " His name is Baekhyun and he needs to talk to Chanyeol. I know his busy but just inform him that he is here, okay? " Junmyeon nodded as he gives back the phone to the receptionist who still can't believe that they will let Baekhyun up to the top floor where the executives took office.

" Come, Baekhyun. I will walk you to the lift. " Junmyeon said softly as he reached for Baekhyun to guide him to the gates that only employees can enter.
