Alex's POV

A/N: this chapter is shorter compared to the previous ones. Sorry for the late delay, and I hope you still enjoy reading this part as I'm going to update the next ones soon!!!

We were sound checking for tonight's performance at the El Rey Theatre. I was nervous, astoundingly nervous for the performance. I was in my dressing room, playing with my guitar, 8 minutes before the show would start.

Matt showed up in my dressing as he found me playing the chords of Library Pictures, he sat beside me.

"Ready for tonight, Al?" he asked me.

"Yeah, but nervous at the same time", the tone in my voice really told him I was one-hundred nervous. I was already sweating when I told him that.

"Don't worry, Al. You should cheer up, it's for the best of our band", Matt patted my back and I smiled.

Jamie chapped on the door: "Show is starting, fellas. Don't make the crowd disappointed of your tardiness",

Matt and I groaned and we stood up from the settee to make our way to the stage. As we entered the stage, the crowd cheered for us. I gave them the smile they deserved even though being nervous in the inside.

The first song for this night was I Bet You Look Good on The Dancefloor. Before Jamie and Matt did the solos on their guitar and drums, I made an information to the crowd first,

"Good evening LA, we're the Arctic Monkeys and the song for tonight is called I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor. Please ladies, don't believe our hype", the crowd began cheering as I said that.

Now Jamie and Matt were doing the solos, I was nervous of singing the first part, but it turned out I did good..

"Stop making the eyes at me, I'll stop making the eyes at you", I began singing as the crowd began singing along while continuing the lyrics.

"I bet that you look good on the dance floor
I don't know if you're looking for romance or
I don't know what you're looking for
I said, I bet that you look good on the dance floor
Dancing to electro-pop like a robot from 1984
Well, from 1984"...

Now the song transitioned to Reckless Serenade, while Jamie was doing the guitar solo, I found myself looking at the crowd. I was nervous, looking for someone from them, but I didn't know any of them. If only Avery came to see us, I would be so happy then to smile in front of her while singing to our songs.....

"When she laughs, the heavens hum a stun gun lullaby
Those twinkling vixens with the shining spiral eyes
Their hypnosis goes unnoticed when she's walking by."

This time, I contributed by doing the solo part of the song..

"I've been trying to figure out exactly what it is I need
Called up to listen to the voice of reason
And got his answering machine
I left my message but did he fuck get back to me
And now I'm stuck, still wondering how it's meant to be

Singing a reckless serenade, reckless serenade
Reckless serenade, reckless serenade", I sung in the microphone as the crowd calmed down while the song is nearing to end. While singing through the planned set list, Suck It And See. I was sad for a moment while singing the song.

"Be cruel to me, 'cause I'm a fool for you..." the song ended and the crowd cheered loudly and smiled in the microphone while holding it, I dropped my guitar on the stage while looking for my guitar pick, in which I accidentally dropped. I'm so dumb when it comes to handling things.

As I made my way to my dressing room, one of the backstage staff tapped on my shoulder:

"A letter for you, Turner", he said and I quickly grabbed it and made my way to my dressing room, in which I gave him a short, "thanks", as a response.

I quickly sat down on the settee, and I immediately read the letter. I knew at the very start that this would be Avery. I mean, who else would send me a letter, right? It's no other than her.

I opened the letter, when the moment I saw it, her handwriting was awestruck, not the same as my messy one..

Hi there, Alex!!

First of all, thank you for sending me a letter. You didn't have to do that in the first place haha. Anyways, I just noticed we're going back to the old times where people would send their messages to someone they have contact with.

Anyways, how did the first leg of the American tour go? Was it fun and vibey? I'm curious to know as I wish I was there with you guys. By the way, classes had ended, so I have the free time to relax more, right? Over the past weeks before classes ended, WE HAD SO MUCH FUN, AND GUESS WHAT, WE DANCED!! And yeah, everything was fun, I'm gonna miss those people.

And yes, life's a shit. It always gives me shit. Almost every day and every night, I overthink a lot. But, that kind of mindset is toxic when I realized it. While writing this, I was thinking of the exact words to answer your letter. Good luck with tour and for the rest of it. Also, kindly say hi to the boys for me, as I'm busy cooking my lasagna recipe. I hope that you'll enjoy the rest of the tour! This is all I can say for now, Alex, bye!!

-Avery

I smiled like a child while reading her response . It made my night, despite of her not being here physically and personally. I grabbed my pen and spare of paper from my bag and began writing down the response for her. No one could ever tease me again after all of these. It's just me and her sharing the same letters all the time.
