Avery's POV:

That morning, I texted to Alex about the album. I said to him every song there was written with the use of real poetry. He just said if all the songs described my feelings in everyday life, and I just replied to him that everything in my life was all about mediocrity.

Engaging text messages with him felt like a safe place in this world. He was kind of sweet, but the moment that it would interrupt the both of us by saying he's been busy planning something with his bandmates. A band guy, huh?

I didn't ask him of what band he's in. He didn't tell me either in the first place. I was really curious and I wanted to ask in the first place but I didn't have the courage to do so since I don't wanna intrude his personal stuff. So I gave him a space to breathe in on his duties.

I was at the University doing the final draft for our final thesis this school year. Mr. Parkinson, our thesis supervisor had already pressured us to do the assignment in the right place and time. He convinced our group to delve our topic deeper about Peer Influence & Social Media and its impact on Humanity. My groupmates were just being chilled out. I cried all night, not knowing what to do first, since they were just making lame excuses that they were attending a party, and me on the other hand was doing something to finish this thing already.

I joined my friends for lunch, I didn't have tons of friends from my official class, since they're not that friendly and all they had to do was to be popular at least in school. My friends and I were labeled as The Nerds by some students. Ever since 11th grade, we've been close. Most of my friends are foreigners: Charles is from Monaco, Miguel from Spain, Pierre is the most handsome French man you ever met, Lando, George, and Bryce hailed from England, Yuki, your typical shy Japanese boy, Zhao, your Mathematical Olympiad bet from Hong Kong, Mick Schumacher from Germany, Alex (not the one I met in the record store) but the Albon one, a half British and Thai who moved here in America since 11th grade. Alex told us that he moved to Thailand from England to study high school there and eventually ended up here in UCLA because he got the scholarship he's been rooting for. Brigette on the other hand is a half Danish and American who moved here in LA since 11th grade and she currently studies Information Technologies. Nyck and Max are the childhood best friends from Netherlands, Perry and Oscar are from Australia; Perry moved here with his family to venture with their family business, Lance is from Canada, and lastly, Tommy is from Scotland and he's the most the typical playboy bet among our groups. Only Abigail, and I are the ones that're American. Sheila on the other hand went back to her native England this freshman year, and she rarely talks in our group chat.

And they asked me again if Alex and I engaged in another conversation again, and I just nodded to their questions.

"Avery, is your love life going through again?", Abigail asked while chewing the food inside her mouth.

"Guys, I've said it before and I'll say it again, nothing more, we're just friends after all", they just laughed, and something was going on with their expressions and I rolled my eyes.

"By the way, let's move on to Avery's , we should focus on Charles's instead", Oscar interfered, I opened my mouth widely to see what is this all about to Charles.

So Oscar told the us about Charles having a crush on Vanessa Alvarez since. Vanessa's my teammate in volleyball, and she's smart and friendly after all. What I didn't realize was that Charles had his feelings kept secret, having crush is normal, and I didn't care at least even though there's some guys in this campus would rant about me, especially the basketball and football players.
