Avery's POV: New Year's 2014

Celebrating Christmas in Sheffield was one of the happiest moments in my life. Penny and David are literally the sweetest parents in the world I met. As soon as the season ended, it was dull to leave them behind as Alex and I are going to celebrate New Year's Day and his birthday in London. It was a bittersweet thing, saying goodbye to Alex's parents. Imagine celebrating your first Christmas season out of your native land, still, I couldn't believe I missed my family, and of course, mom’s birthday.

That was the moment I finally told Alex that I passed the exams. He kissed me so hard after I announced it as I tried myself to forget my student life but because of my naive brain, it keeps pondering.

Alex and I are back in London. Again and again, it has been hectic as we slept on the entire train ride. I woke up early and couldn't help myself to take a photo of the sleeping rock star beside me. He kept telling me he's already booked a hotel suite for the both of us… I guess he's just messing around with me again..

And here we are, Alex really took us to his lovely apartment in London. He opened the door and when the first time I saw it, it really a lot of people inside, or maybe you can just take the whole thing by yourself. It was already 11 PM.

“You got a lovely place, Al", I said as I removed his black coat that he let me borrow so that I wouldn't freeze too much and I sat down on the couch.

“Bought this actually in 2006 when our first album got released”, Alex replied as he made his way to the mini kitchen, “want some coffee, my dear?”, he smiled like a total child.

“Sure"

After the coffee was done preparing, Alex sat down beside me and eventually ended up kissing me again. It was heaven as he laid us down on the couch. This cigarette tasted lips, it felt like just the first time.

He pulled away, our foreheads touched as he pecked my nose for a bit as my index finger traced his pink and kissable lips for a bit. Those brown eyes of him, it'll never leave me behind.

“We're gonna finish this later", he stood up from the couch and eventually he played something familiar from his record player and it was Something by The Beatles.

“But what about our coffee? It'll get cold-"

Alex stretches his hand in front of me, just like the last time, “Dance with me, my lady", he insists as he gives me that childlike smile and eventually, I dance along with him as I stand up from the couch. His hands are on my hips while mine are wrapped around his neck as we slowly dance. We look straight into each other's eyes and suddenly, I rest my head on his chest.

“Yer hands are cold", Alex interrupts, still dancing, I didn't know he'd notice I'm still freezing since earlier. He grabs one of my hands from his neck and intertwines it along with his warm hand, “This will make you feel warm". He smiled. The warmth of his hand melted the ice that is completely stuck in my hand. It's completely on fire but not burning at the same time. Alex is the fire that's willing to save people from being stuck in the middle of frosty corners while me is the ice that's been waiting to melt for so long, wanting to embrace the world of warmth.

The song ended, “Fuck it", he groans, “wanna make this moment last forever until those fireworks dance around the sky". Eventually, he changed it from Something to Romance. It's an old French song that'd make you slow dance the entire night despite being in the middle of the drowning oceans .

Alex intertwines his hand with mine again. This time, I feel the warmness touching my skin as it sends me to an unfamiliar world I have never seen before with my own eyes. “You know, I wanna do this thing of ours forever”. That pretty voice of his, he's willing to do everything for us to remain in this improper world. “I wanna see that sweet smile of yours, mia cara"
