04. Back.

I kept hearing words but I can't seem to process any of them until they slowly stopped and it became quiet again. I felt my finger on my right hand twitch before I slowly opened my eyes.

I closed my eyes again when I saw the light. I let them adjust first before slowly scanning them into this room. There is an unfamiliar yet familiar face sleeping on a couch.

White walls, white doors, and white floors.

My eyes drifted to my hand. I'm on a hospital bed wearing dextrose.

In the corner of my eyes, nakita ko paano natigilan ang babae na natutulog kanina doon.

I just stared at her blankly nang niyakap niya ako ngunit kinalas ko ito at marahan siyang itinulak. I don't even know her and yet she's calling me 'anak'.

"Who are you?" I asked with a frown.

She's weird!

Can you tell me your name?"

Wait. . . M-My name?

I couldn't utter a word because I don't know what to reply. I don't know who I am. . . What the. . . I can't recall anything and it's frustrating me!

"Miss?" Tawag ng doctor.

Umiling ako. Tumango siya at humarap sa babaeng umiiyak. He glanced at his paper before glancing at me and back to the woman.

"She had a severe head injury that caused concussion. Our head is the most essential part of our body since it's where our brain is located. I'm afraid that due to that accident a part of her brain that controls the memories got injured. We're still not sure until when or if she'll ever regain her memories back. But let's observe for a while."

He explained something to her pero tulala lang ako at ang na proseso lang ng utak ko ay nagkaroon ako ng amnesia. I forgot everything. . . Iyon lang ang naiintindihan ko. Other than that, nothing. I remember nothing.

The woman dialed a number while crying. She's explaining words things the phone that I can't process. Mas lalo siyang umiyak at lumabas sa kwarto habang may kausap pa din sa telepono.

I looked around and on myself. How long was I laying here? What happened? Who are they? And who am I?

Litong lito ako. It frustrates me so much that kahit pilit kong inaalala at wala talaga!

I got so frustrated that I pulled my hair like it would help me remember at least something!

"Argh!" Sigaw ko habang sinusuntok ang ulo. "Remember something!"

"Jhane!" The woman's voice shouted. She came up to me and held my wrists to stop me from punching my head. Niyakap niya ako at patuloy siyang umiyak. "Tama na anak! P-Please. . . stop hurting yourself. . ." Narinig ko ang panghihina sa boses niya.
