Wade Vs Li US Open September 2021
Imagine this.
You spend your entire life. From the age of two to the age of thirty two working everyday towards claiming a record. And you did. You won twenty four gran slam titles and are known as the greatest tennis player the world has ever seen.
And now six years later, after you finally stopped working towards that goal, after you claimed that record. Your sitting in the stands of the US open watching as your record gets broken and taken from you. And all you can do is sit here and watch as your life's work gets taken from you.
That's my situation at the moment.
I'm sitting front row with my uncle, Marco, in the stands of the final of the 2021 US open.
It's the final set. Nicki Li took the first one easily and Anna Wade somehow squeaked the second one. Whoever wins this set will win the 2021 US open.
My uncle and I watch closely, along with twenty thousand people in the stadium and thousands more at home. Nicki walks towards the base line, bounces the ball once before throwing it up in the air and with a quick flick of her wrist, she sends a blistering serve at 127 miles per hour towards Anna Wade.
Wade returns it with a shocking power. It lands just inside the line, Nicki isn't able to get to it. Point Wade.
I shut my eyes and breath out harshly.
"Delaney the cameras are watching for your reaction" my uncle whispered from beside me
"Everyone is watching our reaction" I replied. They had cameras situated across the stadium, but with a look around before the game, I realised more cameras were pointed at my seat than the game.
