"Hamilton!" I yelled "I swear if I need to keep repeating myself I'm going to break this racquet over your head. It's straight, not tilted to the left, not tilted to the right, dead straight!"
"You know, I always wondered how you spent the last few years teaching kids how to play tennis and how you were so well regarded. But it all makes sense now, you have such a kind way with words Delaney" Lewis said with a smile, before throwing the tennis ball into the air and hitting the ball
It hit the net.
"That was as straight as a round about!" I yelled, holding my head in my hands.
This was a waste of time. I don't have the patience to coach people, and that mixed with the heat from the sun and the knowledge of how close the French Open was isn't helping.
"Look Hamilton" I said, walking around the net over to where he was standing next to the trolly of tennis balls "let's just focus on getting the ball over the net, cause your serve is abysmal"
"Hey, I think that's the first time you've complimented me" he said
I stared at the man. I was struggling to process what he was saying "what?"
"You called my serve abysmal, thank you, your serve is abysmal too"
"Hamilton - wait, what? Abysmal isn't a compliment"
"Yeah it is Delaney"
"No, Hamilton, it's not"
"Wait" he said, looking confused "so last week when George called my driving on the way to dinner abysmal..."
"Good god man, He wasn't giving you a compliment. Now let's get back to this because otherwise I think I might actually hit you"
"Hit me with it coach" Lewis said, gripping the racquet with two hands. I turned back to look at him, raising my eyebrows at him
"I mean - what's the next instructions, very kind and very lovely Delaney Ricciardo who is coaching me for an hour"
I rolled my eyes at his attempt to save himself.
"Hey so what's your plans for the rest of the day, with formula 1 being over until tomorrow and your brother being with Heidi?" Lewis asked
"Surprisingly enough, I do actually have plans, you see some people do want to spend time with me"
"Oh I don't doubt it for a minute, you're just so kind and patient" Lewis said with a laugh "who's it with"
"I can't say"
"What" he asked "what do you mean you can't say. Don't tell me you're sneaking around with more of your brothers enemy's, and here I was thinking I was special"
"He's not my brothers enemy Hamilton, that position is reserved just for you I'm afraid, he's actually friends with Daniel" I said, at this point Lewis had started to walk towards me and was standing right in front of me. Looking down and blocking the sun from my eyes using his body.
"He?"
"Yeah?"
"Dam, you got a secret boyfriend" he said with a small smirk
"Not that it's any of your business" I said
"It is my business if my tennis coach is going to be missing practice to spend time with some idiot"
"So if I dated somebody they'd how to be an idiot?"
"The biggest idiot in the world"
"Same goes for you"
"Would you look at that, we agree on something" Lewis said with a smile "now come on, out with it, who's this guy"
"There is no guy, I'm just having dinner with friends"
"You" he scoffed "have friends"
"What makes you think you don't"
"I think you yelling at me just there might have given it away. Who is it Delaney?"
"Fine. Who are you going to tell anyway. I'm going for dinner with Liam, George and Cameron"
"George as in George George"
"I don't know any George George's" I shrugged
"George Russel? Like my teammate, what on earth are you doing going for dinner with George Russell?"
"I was tricked into it, Liam drove out here to and George invited him and me out for dinner tonight"
"Where's lover boy now? Driving all the way out here and he's not even here"
"Liam" I said, emphasising his name "is at the hotel, I don't have a clue what he's doing. Now anyway, enough yapping"
"You started it" he mumbled walking back to the baseline. I turned and walked around the net and to the opposite baseline
"Should you not move a bit to the side, I don't want to hit your pretty face"
I rolled my eyes at his words. And took a step to the left
"Where would you be without me" he called over to me
"Probably on a beach, happy for once in my life"
"Should I be offended by that?"
"Yes" I said "now look, just copy what I'm doing" I flipped my racket over in my hand before throwing a ball up slowly into the air and hitting it gently towards him on the other side
"Just - You're not even looking Hamilton"
"Oh trust me darling, there is no where I'd rather be looking. You see" he said, grabbing a tennis ball from the trolly beside him "look"
Right before he threw the tennis ball, my phone started to ring in my pocket. Looking down, I pulled it out of my pocket
"Look out!" Lewis screamed. I looked up, but it was too late, I looked up just in time to see a tennis ball flying at me.
It connected with my head, it connected with such a force it sent me flying to the floor with the impact.
