Somehow I made it back to the garage just in time. When I left the garage the race had been boring and nothing much was going on. Now however, Lewis has pitted for soft tyres and was going for it. The broadcast played an audio clip of his radio and it was his engineer telling him he had nothing to loose, so he just needs to push to get first.

And by god did he do just that. With the fastest and newest tyres he quickly caught up with the top 3. In order to be a team player, George sacrificed being on the podium to allow Lewis to go for the points he would no doubly need if he wanted to win the championship. So without any fighting, Hamilton was quickly into third place.

One lap later and Hamilton had taken Leclerc in a corner, overtaking him.

And now, with two laps left, Hamilton was gaining on Daniel quickly.

It was coming down to two laps to decide who would get first or second, who would get the valuable 25 points for first and would get 18 points for second.

Every point mattered, now more than ever. There was only a handful more races until summer break, the middle of the season. And Daniel and Lewis were still neck and neck, Daniel was just barely ahead after the last race weekend.

The Red Bull garage was alive. The mechanics were all standing nervously around the tv, watching the broadcast. Yelling things like 'drive, drive, drive!' Or 'let's go Daniel you got this'

I almost felt bad for Max, Daniels teammate, even his team were gathered around the tv screaming for Daniel to drive. Not too bad though, he was fine

I fidgeted with my rings. These are the moments I hate. Don't get me wrong, I love it too, the anticipation, the excitement. It's part of what makes sports so amazing.

But at the same time, it was moments like this when both drivers are driving to their limit, trying desperately to win, that accidents happen.

"Come on Dan, come on" I mumbled

His radio was silent, his engineer leaving him alone to focus on the task, every so often pipping up to give him a stat.

"Hamilton is 5 seconds behind you"

"Hamilton is 3 seconds behind you, push Daniel, push"

"Hamilton is gaining, his tyres are good, give it everything Daniel"

"Hamilton is 1.3 seconds behind you, if he gets in range of DRS it's going to be next to impossible to fight him off with those tyres"

"Hamilton has DRS. You need to defend Daniel, okay. You're not faster than him, his tyres are new, he's a lot faster, you can't let him get past you"

"Push Daniel!"

"Defend!"

"Come on Daniel!" I yelled at the screen. The garage had pretty much erupted now. Everyone was screaming at the screens.

Lewis and Daniel were locked into a battle. Lewis was fighting desperately to over take him. But Daniel was doing an amazing job at defending against him. He was moving quickly to stop him.

But I knew what was going to happen before it happened. The final part of the Italian track is a long straight. Not only would Lewis be faster with his tyres, he would have DRS. Daniel didn't stand a chance.
