A little while later Lewis told me that he still had something to show me, so eventually he got me back in the car. Some time along the drive, I fell asleep. The lack of sleep over the last couple of days, the sleepless nights over the fact that I may lose, has all finally caught up to me.
I don't know how much time had passed between when I fell asleep to when I was awoken by a gentle hand moving my shoulder, shaking me awake.
"Delaney"
I immediately sat up in the chair, realising my mistake in falling asleep
"How long was I asleep for?"
"A little while" Lewis shrugged. But as I glanced around the car, I spotted a bottle of Diet Coke, and a bag of Haribo
"When'd you stop to get snacks?" I ask
"You were asleep for a while"
"Why didn't you wake me"
"You looked too peaceful. And plus, I knew if you're anything like me you're exhausted and haven't been sleeping properly for the last week" he said casually "only reason I woke you was because everywhere's going to get busy soon with people"
"Thank you" I mumbled.
I looked out the window, taking in where Lewis had parked his car. We were on a pretty normal looking street for England. The buildings were made with red brick, it was empty and dark, the only light coming from the streetlights above. It looked a little fancier than most, with plant pots and benches placed up and down the street.
"Where are we"
"Surprise" he says with a smile
I glared over at him, which only made him laugh before moving his head towards the door "let's go"
We unbuckled our seat belts in unison and climb out of the low car. The noise of the doors closing behind us echoed throughout the street.
"What time is it even?" I asked
"Around 8:30"
I wrapped my arms around me, shielding against the wind. All I had on was jeans, neon pink heels and a Tshirt Daniel had gotten me that printed on the back read 'I'm no gynaecologist but I know a cunt when I see one'
Lewis locked his car before walking quickly across the road, I followed beside him.
We walked down the street before Lewis turned into one of the buildings.
It was a gorgeous building, regardless of the construction going on around it. It was small, at the edge of the street with a road beside it. It wasn't that wide but had a large area out the front, which was covered in tools and building stuff. The windows were huge and the tops were stained glass, with green hues. The door was glass as well.
"We can't just go in" I said, as Lewis walked through the front area. But he just glanced back at me with a smile before he pulled out a set of keys, slipping it into the lock and opening the door.
"Apparently we can" I said before following him in.
He held the glass door open for me as I slipped in through it.
Sure there was bits and pieces of construction scattered across the room. A tool box with tools and different random things scattered across the floor under a large neon light. Chairs were stacked in the corner. Tables were scattered across the room. But regardless of the bits of debris and the mess, it was clearly a restaurant.
But it was gorgeous. It was a large room. With big tall windows, the far wall was a wallpaper I recognise but I don't know from where. There was a little hole in the wall that lead to a kitchen, the wall around it was covered in green tiles. There were extravagant golden bowl lights handing from the ceiling. The floor was a dark wood marble.
