A couple of days later, Marco goes in for surgery.

Instead of staying home and training like he told me to do, I spend the entire day in the waiting room so I can hear the results the moment the surgeon is done.

Daniel arrived, gaining a speeding ticket in the process. And since he arrived he's been sleeping in my guest room and driving me to and from the hospital whenever I need.

Although I think Marco got to him first. He refuses to drive me to the hospital until I've trained for at least a good while, and he hid my keys anyway, saying I'm not in the right state to be driving anywhere. And while I almost punched him for it, I do think he's right.

When Dr. Wiffen comes out into the waiting room after the surgery, she has no smile on her face. For a moment, I feel as if life as I know it is ending. My chest constricts; the room grows hot. But then she says "He's doing fine" And suddenly I can breathe again.

"Oh my god" I breath out, bending down and leaning my hands on my thighs to support myself

"Oh my fucking god. You know if you weren't such an apparently good doctor I would actually sue you. Who comes out of a life threatening surgery to give to the news to someone's family with a sad look on their face!"

"Thank you," Daniel says, stepping in front of me slightly to shake her hand

"You should go home" she tells us "He will probably sleep the rest of the night"

But I don't.

Daniel tries to stay for as long as he can, more to convince me to go home, but after two hours of trying to sleep on the ground. He calls it a night and goes home, knowing all too well that there's nothing he can say that will convince me to go home.

I wait until he's moved to recovery and then fall asleep in the chair beside him. Just hearing his breath is enough to allow me lo sleep soundly.

I don't know how long I slept for until I'm woken up.

I'm groggy but as I open my eyes, I look over at the door way where the light from the hallway was pouring in, and of course a floating head?

No - someone was looking into the room, leaning their head in. But in the time I use to blink, the shadow of the head is gone.

I bring a hand down my face, trying to wake myself up and make sure I'm seeing things right.

"Pssssst" I hear a voice, coming from the hallway

"Who's there?" I call out, but glancing to my left at my uncle who was asleep. I quickly slipped my crocs on and walked towards the door.

I looked up and down the hallway, but it was empty. The only movement was coming from the top where a desk sat and nurses were going back and forth.

"Pssst!" I hear someone call again

"Whoever the fuck is messing with me is actually just asking for an argument" I say down the hallway

But no response comes. I let out a sign and begin to walk down the hallway, looking down the other hallways that shoot off this one to see if anyone was hiding there.

Before I can react, the door next to me opens and I'm pulled into the room and the doors shut behind me.

"Who the fuck-" I begin to yell, bringing my hands up to attack whoever the fuck had just pulled me into the room.

There wasn't much light in this room, but the little that was creeping through the gaps in the door was enough for me to see the eyes of the person in front of me.

Brown. Gorgeous brown eyes. Eyes that I recognised instantly

"Lewis?" I cursed, but his hand quickly came up to cover my mouth. His other arm was across my waist, holding me against the door.
