December 2022 A month and a half before The Melbourne Open
I stopped reading the sports pages for now. Instead, in the mornings as I drink my smoothie and eat my almonds, I read the gossip columns.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are getting a divorce, which sort of shocks me, although I don't know why. Meanwhile Kadie Kardashian was spotted again, well I mean they think she was, the photo is the back of a brown haired women, she could be anyone. The fact that even after all this time no government has been able to find her, I don't know if it makes me happy to see her getting away with it, or scared at the fact how one women is impossible to find no matter the fact the whole worlds looking for her.
I love gossip magazines. But I cannot get enough of the delicious buzz of who is sleeping with who and what idiotic name they're naming their child. It's one of the many benefits of the fact I haven't dated anyone in years. I can read magazines at breakfast without fear. One moment of peace in an otherwise grueling day.
After breakfast every morning, I work out. Then in the afternoon I do drills. And then after everything, a little after 5pm, when the lights come on. Liam Black shows up and we play in the cool evening air.
After everyone on the WTA tour refused to hit with me. Tasha had to look further. I needed to be able to hit against someone who would have the same skills levels as the women I would be playing in Australia. Theres no point of me winning every game against a bunch of amateurs.
So Tasha messaged some of the mens players. The list she could message would relativity short however due to some past one night relationships, arguments I've had with them, or just men I can't stand in general
Tasha quickly came to the realisation that most men don't want to hit with one of the leading faces for feminism in the world. My guess is their egos are too fragile and they wouldn't be able to stand it if they got bet by a women.
After Tasha asked most of the ATP tour, one person agreed to work with me, and Tasha had driven out to my house to tell me.
"So who is it?" My uncle says,
"Just.... Please get yourself in the right mind space to hear me out" Tasha said
"Spit it out Tash" I said
"Liam Black"
I haven't spoke to Liam Black since we spent a week together in Madrid and we never called eachother again. "You've got to be kidding me" I say
"He's a very talented tennis player Delaney. And even still, this year is his last on the ATP tour"
