Chapter 38

                     Lucas

The following morning as I'm getting Tobias ready for school . I hear multiple hard knocks on the front door . I'm definitely not expecting anyone so I just place Tobias on his chair by his breakfast and go answer the door .

When I open it, I find a nice looking man . A little taller than me, wearing a pink suit with no shirt underneath, revealing his smooth hairless chest . I do a double take at his shoes, heels? Fancy .

" You can tell me when you are done admiring me Lucas ." The guy says smoothly .

I snap my eyes on his face, clearing my throat . " Sorry  for my bad manners ." I shift uncomfortably under his hard gaze . " How do you even know my name?" I ask out of curiosity when the guy just stares at me .

" I mean, it's not hard to know a mere freak who got knocked up by my man . The town talks sweetheart, and it seems like you are not liked by many people here ."

" Okay ." Now that stings but I don't let it show. Instead I force a smile " What do you want then?" I say, my voice betraying me with a little crack .

" Just wanted to see if the rumours were true . " His nose crinkles like he just smelt something disgusting .

I have never really cared much about how I looked or presented myself in the past but at the moment, all I can think about is how unkept I look. The fact that I just woke up, my hair is a little messy and I'm still in my oversized pyjamas makes me feel exposed . Like somehow, I could never beat how perfect Axel looks in front of me. 

"What did Nathan even see in you?" Axel says out of nowhere . That is enough to make me wanna slam the door on his face .

" You should ask him that ." I hiss . Already fed up with his judgmental looks and insulting words. 

" Oh you are so cute!" He laughs , and by the sound of it, it's not even genuine . " Well, just wanted to let you know that , you should stay in your lane . Nathan is mine, always and forever . Having a child with him doesn't guarantee you a spot in his heart ."

" Too bad I'm already in it" Instantly, my eyes go wide at the words I just uttered.  Where did that come from?

" Are you sure about that?" The guy tries to step forward but I push the door forward . He immediately places his heel between the door and shoves his hand through the small gap, scratching my cheek a little .

" Bitch!" He snarls when I yelp back. Completely forgetting the reason I'm trying to shut the door close .

" Fucking hell, leave my property!" I half yell when he pushes the door open .

He casually walks inside, his piercing look roams the place until the land on something beside me . I look down to find Tobias standing by my side with one of his mean looks he usually wears whenever he's angry. 

" Leave my daddy alone!" He stomps his little foot on the wooden floor.  Out of instinct, I step in front of him . Blocking Tobias out of Axel's view .

" No doubt that's Nathan's child ." He spits out . I just glare at him . The stinging sensation over my cheek
getting a little worse, he has definitely done a number on me .

" Leave us alone!" I say, trying to sound as threatening as possible.  If he's capable of scratching my face , God knows what else he can do to me or Tobias .

" This is just a warning Lucas ." He gives me this sinister smile that makes my insides drop . " If you want to see your son live another day on earth, you will stay in your lane . You will fucking make things easier for me . If ...you dare get in my way .." He laughs wickedly .

" It's not my fault that Nathan loves me more than you . In fact, now I know why--"

" Lucas. " He mutters calmly but there's nothing calm about his cold look . Nothing . However my stupid ass can't seem to get the hint . Perhaps it's because of how ridiculous he looks, or I'm just too dumb . Either way, the
Adrenaline  rush is not helping .

" You can't threaten my child's life and expect me to bare my neck , and allow you to walk on it ."

" I have money, I can destroy you ."

" I have nothing to lose, everybody hates me already ." I point out the obvious.

His icy blue eyes dart to the ground then back at my eyes " If you want Nathan so bad, why don't you just take him?"

Axel sighs heavily at my words. He seem to be calculating his next move as he looks me from up to buttom. His eyes not giving away what he's thinking . I hold on the trembling little hand behind him, squeezing it gently for comfort .

" Well, this didn't go as planned . " He gives me one last look when walks out of the house . Even shutting the door behind him .

I breathe out, relief washing over me . Did my little tactics work? Or should I be preparing for another surprise visit, this time with more than just a nail scratch on the cheek? I just hope not . I have never been good at fighting .
