NETEYAM'S POV
"Ow!" I yelped in pain.

"Neteyam please stay still. You will make me loose the strands and I will have to start all over." My mother said as she redid my braids for tonight's celebration. Tonowari announced that there would be a huge party and feast tonight in honor of the warriors who returned after such a long time.

"I don't see why we have to do this mother"

"Because your hair is a mess and no son of mine is going to be running around looking messy and crazy"

"It's stupid" I mumbled

"What?"

"Nothing" I said rolling my eyes

"Neteyam what is wrong? You never act like this" my mother said

Kiri was looking at us across the room. She looked at me with a sympathetic look.

"Nothing is wrong" I said rolling my eyes once again.

"Neteyam don't-"

"Mom! Why don't I do Neteyams hair? You should get started on Lo'aks anyway his is much messier" Kiri said interrupting my mother, before she could start yelling at me. My mother looked at me before closing her eyes and taking a deep breath.

"You're right Kiri. I don't have the energy to deal with this today" my mother said before walking off to find Lo'ak.

Kiri took a seat behind me and started to gently section my hair. I like it much more when Kiri does my braids, they come out better and they hurt less. She braided my hair in silence for about a minute before she spoke.

"What is wrong?" Kiri asked

I sighed. I know I can't hide anything from Kiri.

"I have a feeling"

"About?"

"Sahné"

"Oh" Kiri nodded with a small smile "is it because of how close he was to Au'rai?" She giggled "Neteyam I'm sure they are just friends"
