AU'RAI POV
I took a deep breath in, taking in the smell of the beautiful ocean. I looked towards the sky and saw the beautiful sunrise that painted the ocean pink and orange. I felt myself float peacefully as the ocean enclosed me in it, almost as if it was giving me a hug. This is where I could truly be happy. To be completely honest I'm not supposed to be out here. It is six in the morning and I am still supposed to be in bed. The only people allowed out at this time are the fishermen, warriors, and warriors in training, but I cannot help myself! The ocean calls to me and who am I to ignore her? As I was floating I started hearing the calls of the warriors which signaled they were coming.
Tsahey I thought. I ducked down into the ocean hoping I wouldn't be spotted by anyone, specifically my father. Once I saw the warriors fly above me on their skimwings I came back to the surface gasping for air. I smirked to myself knowing I was in the clear. That is until when I turned and smashed into a hard chest. I looked up to see my father, Tonowari, and my older brother Aonung standing before me.
"Hi Dad!" I giggled nervously to which he sighed
"Au'rai you know you are not supposed to be out here right now"
"I know Dad but-"
"No buts" he cut me off sternly "you know the rules daughter. Why is it that everyone in the clan can follow the rules except for you?"
I looked down in shame. Even though I have had this conversation with my father more times than I can count, it never fails to make me upset.
"You are the daughter of the Metkayina chief you should know better" Aonung said butting in to which I rolled my eyes.
"Shut up skxawng"
"Au'rai" my father said making me flinch "come I'm sure your mother is worried about you"
We swam our way to my family's marui and when we got there sure enough there was my mother worried while my older sister Tsireya cooked breakfast. Tsireya wasn't too much older than me only by a year or so.
"Au'rai!" My mother said coming up to me. She held my face and looked me over to make sure I wasn't hurt.
"Mom please! I am fine" I said trying to get out of her grip.
"Guess where she was this morning mom" Aonung chuckled
"Aonung" my father said sternly which made Aonung shut up.
"She was swimming" my father said to my mom
"You disobedient child! How many times have I told you you are not allowed to swim til seven! You know the dangers that lurk in the waters earlier in the mornings!"
"Mom come on! I am Metkayina! We are reef people I think it would be wrong not to swim don't you?! What is the difference between swimming at six and swimming at seven!"
"Au'rai do not talk back to your mother!" My father scolded to which I rolled my eyes. "I'm going to eat some place else" I said as I grabbed a fruit from the pile we had and walked out of the pod.
"That girl is going to be the death of me" I heard my father sigh.
I walked towards a rock and sat there eating my fruit. Why was it that everything I do is wrong? I literally am not allowed to do anything without making someone upset. As I sat there thinking about it I felt someone sit next to me and I looked over to see my sister Tsireya.
"Kaltxi tsmuke" she greeted with a smile
"Hi"
"Here I thought you might be more hungry" she said handing me a bowl of what she had made
"Thanks" I said taking it from her
"You know you did break a rule sister"
"I know that but it's just annoying that everything I do makes them mad, it's like they hate me"
"They do not hate you Au'rai. They just care so much about you because you are their baby" she said as she hugged me tightly which caused me to giggle uncontrollably
"Ok ok I get it" I said as I escaped her embrace and continued to laugh a bit.
"But in all seriousness maybe just try to do more of what they say. You might find it's not as bad as you think" when she said this we heard the sound of a horn blowing loudly throughout the land. We looked up and saw Ikrans? Here? Those are forest creatures why are they here? We saw everyone make their way to where the Ikran landed.
"What is going on?" Tsireya questioned
"Let's go find out"
Tsahey-oh crap
Kaltxi-hello
Tsmuke-sister
