AU'RAIS POV
The next day came and everyone was pretty sad, no body wanted to leave the forest. We all woke up that morning feeling kind of down, I know we're going back home but the thing is, I don't really want to go back. It'll just be a reminder of mine and Lo'aks arrangement and everyone will continue to treat me like an outcast.I tried my best to avoid Neteyam all morning, I didn't want to talk to him because I feared that if I did, I would burst into tears. Jakes words had been replaying in my head, he is right, the longer we wait the more it'll hurt. The rest of the day passed by quick and I continued to avoid Neteyam but, an hour before we left, he caught me alone.
"Au'rai" he spoke "is something wrong? You've been avoiding me all day"
"No nothing is wrong" i said putting on my best fake smile. "I need to bring these to your mother, I'll be back" I grabbed the nearest thing I could find and tried to walk out, but of course Neteyam didn't let me.
"Baby please, I know something is wrong, tell me what is bothering you"
I sighed and tried to compose myself, I really just don't feel like crying today.
"I had a talk with your father yesterday"
"Okay"
"He told me that he knows about us" I saw Neteyam take in a deep breath "he said he wouldn't stop us but then he said that the longer we wait and continue our relationship, the more it'll hurt when Lo'ak and I have to mate. And I don't know" I shrugged "I've just been thinking..."
"Thinking? About what? You want us to break up?" He took my hand in his. I shook my head.
"I don't want to"
"Good because we're not going to. You're mine and I'm yours and that's it" he stated. "We will figure something out Au'rai and if our parents don't accept us then we will just leave"
"Leave?"
"Yes, we'll leave Awa'atlu, we'll come back here to the forest. I talked with my grandmother earlier about this and she agreed. She said that if things don't workout we're more then welcome to join the clan" he smiled. I was overjoyed by his words, it made me feel good that Neteyam had been putting thought into our future. I put my hand on his jaw and gently brought him in for a kiss.
"I love you Tey" He giggled softly when I said this.
"I love you more" We were about to kiss again but we got interrupted when someone opened the tents flap. My face drained in color when I saw who it was, Neteyam and I quickly pulled away from each other.
