"Hmm?" Alana looked at the book that fell off of her bookshelves. She wanted to find some books for Lily to read dahil napansin niyang mahilig itong mag basa. She automatically smiled nang maalala niya ito.
Lily only need one thing in the world. Hindi niya akalain na libro lang pala ang katapat nito. Lily would always become lost in her books na minsan ay nagkakaroon siya ng pagkakataon na titigan ito.
She liked looking at Lily's beautiful nose and that long eyelashes.
"Will she like this?" Alana flipped the front of the book. Natigilan siya nang matitigan ang librong hawak hawak. Suddenly everything clicked for her. It was the book that someone gave her a long time ago. She forgot about the book because she just stuffed it in her bookshelves never to be seen again.
It was Sleeping beauty.
That kid who gave her the book had the same dark eyes as Lily. In fact, it was Lily. Hindi niya lang maamin noon sa sarili niya na she liked Lily when they were kids. Hindi niya alam kung bakit pero nang umalis noon si Lily papunta sa ibang bansa. Gusto niyang sabihin na wag siya nitong kalimutan but it all got lodge up in her throat. Hindi niya masabi dito na pag bumalik ito ay aantayin niya ito. Maybe because she was hurt that Lily have to go away, pagkatapos nang pag nakaw niya ng halik dito.
Lily was grieving and she wanted to give her time to process her pain. Kaya hindi niya inamin na gusto niya ito.
Or maybe they are still kids. Madami na din siyang naging kaibigan pagkatapos ni Lily. And their friendship eventually ended dahil naputol ang kumonikasyon nila. They were too young to maintain conversations even with all the technology dahil masyado na ding lumawak ang mundo nila. Masyado itong malayo at madami na ding bagay na umagaw ng atensiyon niya. But Lily was pure and innocent even now.
Pero bakit hindi niya nagawang lumapit noon dito? Maybe because they grew apart at hindi niya alam ang sasabihin niya dito. But everytime she saw Lily ay napalitan ng inis ang nararamdaman niyang pangungulila dito. She doesn't know how to get back to being friends with her.
Napangiti siya ng mapait. Why did Lily have to be Mayor Saavedra's daughter?
Alana tore her gaze away from Lily. Bigla niya kasing naalala ang mga nangyari noong nakaraan.
Kahit gusto niyang i-comfort ito. She knew that Lily would reject. Siya ang nanakit dito. Why would anyone want a comfort from someone who hurt them?
"Are you ok?" Agent Gutierrez held her shoulders and squeezed. Pagkatapos nun ay sinundan nito ang tinitingnan niya. The agent opened his mouth and was about to say something. Pero bumuga na lang ito ng hangin.
Alana knew what he would say. And yes, its her fault. Siya ang lumapit kay Lily para maghigante. She was blinded by her thirst for revenge. Hindi niya alam kung mapapatawad pa siya ni Lily. But maybe someday.... if time permit it so. Gusto niyang bumawi dito. Gusto niya pa ding mapalapit dito.
"We finished the investigation of the evidences presented. It seems that the Mayor had some connections and they are also part of the big drug cartel here in Atega. They were about to infiltrate San Victores and sell drugs to the upperclass."
Agent Fowl gave her the lists of the people involved in the drug cartel at halos tumigil sa pag inog ang mundo niya nang makita ang pangalan ng Kuya Nathan niya.

"I-I didn't know...." Inangat niya ang tingin dito. Ilang beses niya pang binasa ang papel but there it is. Her brother's name on the list. "S-So.... He..."
Halos hindi lumabas sa lalamunan niya ang mga sasabihin niya sana. It was difficult to breathe. The realization alone sends shockwaves to her body. Hindi niya alam ang magiging reaksyon niya. Should she be angry, pero kuya niya ito. He is a doting brother kaya hindi siya makapaniwala na kasama ito sa drug cartel ni Mayor Saavedra.
"M-Maybe there was a mistake in the list. H-Hindi ganyan ang pagkakakilala ko sa kuya ko." Her words are but a whisper.
"Hindi natin kilala ang mga tao, Al. He is maybe your brother but he hid things from you. Kagaya ng dependency niya sa Marijuana. Maybe your father is the only one he confided with about his condition."
"He got someone to tail you. Base sa nakalap namin sa CCTV. Your brother is talking to the guy who drove the silver cross back. It's clear that he was secretly meeting the guy toasted by Agent Eagle. Madaming kuha ng CCTV ang nakikitang magkasama silang dalawa." Agent Fowl said.
Naipikit ni Alana ang mga mata niya ng mariin. How...... how could this happen? Kaya ba hindi siya nito tinutulungan sa imbestigasyon? Kaya ba nasabi nitong madaming taong hawak si Mayor Saavedra dahil isa ito sa tauhan?
Shit! She closed her fist tightly. Gusto niyang sumigaw but she tamed herself kahit gusto nang magwala ng buong pagkatao niya. Her brother who she trusted the most ends up the one who betrayed her! Ang init ng dibdib niya. It wasn't warm but full of molten steel. Like her insides are burning. Sumasakit din ang tiyan niya parang gusto niyang sumuka.
Her brother, the one who she grew up with betrayed her! Hindi niya akalain na mangyayari iyon. Her head is swirling. Ano ang totoo sa mga ipinakita ng kuya niya sa kanya these past few days. Iba't ibang scenario ang umiikot ngayon sa isip niya. Kaya ba mas madali na lang na magalit ito sa kanya? Kesa tulungan siya?
Her eyes teared up. Why? Why did everyone she loved have to leave her? Bakit napunta sa ganitong sitwasyon ang kuya niya?
"I-I was almost killed by that guy! Is that part of his plan too!?"
Agent Gutierrez held her hands nang makita nitong nanginginig iyon. He gave her a sympathetic smile. "You can ask him directly why. The other agents should have arrested him by now. Wag ka munang mag isip ng kung ano Alana. Besides, baka nga ako ang gustong patayin ng hayop na yun. Nadamay ka lang sa kagwapuhan ko."
"Is it the time to make that joke Agent Eagle?" Sarkastiko itong tiningnan ni Agent Fowl.
Nailagay na lang nito ang kamay sa batok. Alana offered him a thank you smile pero hindi na siya ang komento pa sa sinabi nito. Her heart had sunk to her stomach. Everything had fallen apart. She lost Helen first, then Lily and now her brother Nathan.
Tuluyan nang nag init ang dibdib niya. Hindi na niya kinaya. Her tears started to fall down her face. Tinakpan niya ang mukha niya para hindi siya makita ng ibang tao na umiyak but it's no use. Her sobs are with sounds. She was struggling to even breath properly. Para siyang namatay ng pangatlong beses.
So this is what Lily felt......betrayal hurts the most when it came from people closest to you.
I'm sorry Lily.
