Casey's POV
"A car?" Jess squeaked, "We could never ask you for something like that." Emma shook her head at him, waving her arms, "Oh, but deary, you didn't have to, I know how important it is for you to get home. I have an unused car in the back garage, I was just going to pass it along to the junk yard, but I know this is way more important." She smiled, and motioned for us to follow her.
She led us outside, where the wind was really picking up, and the sky was getting darker from the bright blue it had earlier. She stopped in front of an old looking shed, but was obviously an unused garage. She entered a code, and the door slowly swung open, revealing an old mustang. Its headlights were foggy, and the red that was probably once bright and shiny, was now faded, and scratched off in some places. It was perfect.
"Wow, we can't ask you to just let us take this, what if it gets ruined?" Daniel said in shock, oggling at the old car, "this has to be an early 60's car, late 50's maybe. You could get money for this!" He continued, and Emma chuckled, putting her hands on her hips.
"I'm an old lady, what am I going to do with any type of money? I'm retired, and really, if it get's ruined, at least it'll be for a good cause, and not for the junk yard to make a profit. Really, kids, take it. But I would prefer if you waited until morning, it looks like a storm is brewing.." She looked up at the sky, and everyone else did the same. It was a dark black, making it seem like it was midnight, instead of early evening.
"We accept!" Cheyanne was thrilled, but she had a worried look about her, I could see it faintly in her eyes.
Everyone shuffled back into the living room, some sat around chatting, whilst others stared at the sky out the window, it becoming darker and darker every passing minute.
Cam and I sat on the love seat, not really talking much, just sitting. His arms wound around me, and I was lying on his chest. His breathing was slow, while mine was rapid, fast.
Evening was falling into night, and everyone slowly made their way to bed, one by one. Emma was left downstairs alone, making something for the next nights supper for her family. It was a long process, and required being made overnight. She hummed to herself as Cam and I made our way up the stairs.
Shutting the door behind me, Cam went to sit on the bed, while I went to brush my hair, preparing for bed. He covered himself up with the blankets, and waited for me to join him.
"You know, it's only bed time, you don't have to brush your hair." Cam informed me, and I continued to pull the brush through it as I looked at him through the mirror, "It's healthy for your hair. You should start." He smirked, and watched me brush through it.
A loud crash sounded downstairs, and I froze with the brush on my head, I turned toward Cam, and he had the same wide-eyed expression as I did.
"Do you think..?" I started, and he gulped loudly, "You could never be too sure." Just then, Jess, Cheyanne and Daniel came bursting in the room, huffing and puffing, despite coming from down the hall.
"There's a car outside! It's not familiar, but if I'm right, it's Timmy and Louis, I don't know if Avrey came along." Jess whisper yelled, and we all entered the hallway, and stood near the stairs, Cannon and Prim had joined their mother downstairs, where they were being held at gun-point. By Avrey himself. I held in my sobs, and we all went back into Jess' room, shutting the door silently behind us.
We could still faintly hear Emma's' sobs, as she tried to explain that we were here, but we'd left a few hours ago, in a car. Heading south. She was lying to them, she gave them the opposite direction then we would be heading the next day.
