Chapter 6

We walked cautiously off the plane, and headed toward the exits faster then anyone else in the airport. Avrey could be anywhere, he could have seen us and we might not even know if he was following us or not. We flagged down a cab, and scrambled in before rain started to pelt on the roof. The driver groaned as the rain became heavier, and turned around to face us, opening the glass barrier.

"Where to, kids?" He had a scruffy, bored sort of voice to him. He seemed extremely bored of his job, but obviously couldn't get any other one better than it. His eyes dragged themselves back up every time they blinked, somehow making me seem very unsafe with him.

  Jess answered right away.

"Take us to the closest, cheapest hair cutters you know of."

I turned my head to face him, and gave him a confused look. The driver nodded, and started the car again, making a U-Turn, then heading down a highway.

Jess rolled his eyes and slid the glass barrier shut, so the driver could no longer hear us, although he glanced at us in the rear-view mirror a few times. Did this man think we were dangerous?

"Why are we going to a hair salon! The last thing we need is a trim! I want to go home, Jess." My voice sounded whiny, and I cleared my throat, hoping he hadn't noticed.

"Cas', we have no choice. Whether Avrey followed us out or not, we don't know. So the first thing we need to do before going home is change our appearance." He finished with a sigh and layed his head back on the seat. I sighed and turned back toward the driver. I gasped aloud when the drivers eyes glared at me through the rear-view mirror. I didn't look away, and neither did the driver, not until we heard a screech, and the tires went hay-wire.

The car turned a hard left, and the car was sideways, up in the air. It landed back down on the wheels with a hard bang.

Jess snapped his eyes open, and gripped onto my arm.

"What happened?!" His eyes were wide with fright.

"I.. The.." I stammered. Holding back my tears.

  "Casey, what happened?" Softer now.

"The driver. He was glaring at me through the mirror, then he took a hard left. We're completely out of town now. What do we do? Do you think he's working with Avrey?"

"What are the odds? How does he know we're even here?"

"He could have called anyone, though! Jess, we have to get out of this taxi. Now. Do you see anything else besides farm lands?"

"Actually, Cas', I do. Look over there." He pointed over my shoulder, I turned around and as we drove nearer, a giant silver building came into view. It had a huge door, probably made for shipping trucks to back into, and a curved roof, going outwards. It was the only building out here for miles.

The door started to rise open, and I realized we were turning into that driveway.

"Jess! We have to get out, now!" I whispered urgently. "On the count of three, we'll jump out of the doors, and take a run for it."

Jess nodded, and took of his seat-belt. I did the same, and let the belt fly back into place.

 "One.."

We both gripped the handle firmly.

 "Two.."

We got as close to the door as possible, ready to jump and roll.

 "Three!"

We both pulled the handle, and to our surprise the door didn't budge.
