*warning: this imagine is long (4k+ words)*

At university you and Seokmin are known as yin and yang. You're complete opposites of each other but are the best of friends. The two of you are always lumped as a combo; if you were somewhere on campus everyone around you assumed Seokmin wasn't far behind, and vice versa. And in the moments either of you aren't around each other people ask where the missing pair is.

Your unlikely friendship with Seokmin started the first year of high school when you ended up being his seatmate in class. At first you didn't like Seokmin because of how bright and overly popular he was, but the more he pestered you the more difficult it was for you to avoid him. Seokmin liked the fact that you were hard to read and how brutally honest you were so he made a point to befriend you no matter what. More often than not Seokmin was unbearable to be around and you had no problem telling him so, which only caused him to bother you more.

As the years went by you slowly let Seokmin in. The two of you grew closer and your friend group grew even bigger because of it. You were originally a loner in class, having moved to a new city for your high school years, so you had no friends. But once you and Seokmin became friends his friends were now yours as well. By senior year your mutual friends began calling you and Seokmin yin and yang since the two of you were much closer than anyone out of the group.

You didn't care for the nicknames while Seokmin loved it. He always responded when someone referred to him as Yang-because he's the epitome of yang energy. He's the fun, bubbly type that makes friends effortlessly. He's easy to approach and always has a smile on his face. Seokmin's special power was his ability to make people laugh with ease.

Meanwhile you're told you're the embodiment of yin. Whenever one of your friends is ballsy enough to call you yin instead of your actual name you ignore them like a fly on the wall. More often than not you find outgoing people, similar to Seokmin, to be bothersome to be around. Your resting face is intimidating to most people which makes it difficult for you to make any friends, even though you're actually a nice person.

You look menacing at first glance until people get to know you, which was how Seokmin's friends felt until they befriended you. Now they just think you're an easy target for their neverending teasing and harassment. Even though you're fairly quiet you're also a little brazen and far from shy. You don't have a problem giving someone pure facts and honesty, even if it might hurt someone's feelings or pride.

Seokmin on the other hand has trouble telling people no. His excuse is that he's afraid of upsetting people in any way and tries to avoid conflicts. He's kind and softhearted so it makes sense. Seokmin is also easily embarrassed and shy though he's super friendly. He's only ever viciously honest with you and your mutual friends, saying jokingly harsh things with a warm smile on his face like it's nothing. A completely different side than the one he puts on for the rest of the world.

Everyone around you finds you hard to read with how straight and somewhat unwelcoming your facial expressions are. Even Seokmin has difficulty comprehending your thoughts sometimes while he can easily read anyone else around him like an open book. But even when your best friend has trouble knowing what you're thinking he's still the only person in your life that truly gets you. No words can describe your appreciation and adoration for Seokmin.

Fast-forward to present day. You and Seokmin are currently in your second semester of your first year of university. And surprisingly enough your entire friend group managed to enter the same university, though split by two different majors. But that still gave everyone plenty of classes together.

The original friend group consisted of Soonyoung, who practically has a new hair color every other month and is the loudest of the group, Wonwoo, who is the richest out of the group and always ends up paying for everyone's food and drinks, Chan, who is the group's wildcard that spontaneously ropes everyone into doing things no one wants to do, Seokmin (obviously), and you. The five of you always met up on the weekends during high school to play video games at internet cafes, play basketball at the neighborhood court, watch movies at Wonwoo's house or whatever else Chan decided was a good idea. Even though you only knew the guys for a few years it felt like meeting them was fate. You considered all of them to be somewhat like brothers you never had, being the only child in your family.
