Hoshi: at first sight (pt. 1)

You're sitting at a small table at your favorite coffee shop, reading a book you've been dying to finish for days. And now that it's your day off you're finally able to sit and read the rest of your book. It's a romance novel from your favorite author so it was definitely a book you couldn't put down once you were invested. Without realizing it you'd been sitting at the table for over two hours, nearing the end of your book. You decided to give your eyes a break and ordered one more coffee to keep you going.

After sitting back down you picked up where you left off. The coffee shop was fairly quiet with customers coming in and out. You were the only person actually sitting down in the lobby area. And usually your eyes never peeled away from your book when the door chime would ring indicating someone walked in. Until you reached the last couple pages of your book. The chime rang as usual and you didn't give it much thought but then you heard a group of masculine voices errupt in the coffee shop.

You glanced up from your book just long enough to slightly scowl at the noise the group of guys were making only to find yourself staring at five incredibly attractive men. Unbeknownst to you they were some of the most popular guys at your university. Soonyoung, Chan, Minghao, Wonwoo, and Mingyu. Since you were the only person sitting at the tables in the shop the guys all glanced over at you as they made their way to the order counter. Your eyes met each and every one theirs with Soonyoung being the last one you made eye contact with.

And for some reason his eyes never broke away from yours. You slowly raised your book back over your face, your eyes the only part of your face visible to Soonyoung, until you felt too embarrassed to carry the eye contact any longer. You dipped your head back into your book and tried your best to finish the last few pages but now your concentration was broken. It felt impossible to focus on the words in front of you. Your heartbeat was rapid and you suddenly felt your body becoming clammy. Something in you told you to sneak another peek at Soonyoung, so you did. You ever so slightly lowered your book just enough to look over at him.

Soonyoung was in the middle of ordering a drink when you looked at him again. You told yourself just one quick peek and that was it but you couldn't find it in you to look down now that his eyes weren't on you anymore. And then suddenly he glanced over at you once more, a toothy grin crossed his handsome face as he shot you a devious wink before returning his attention to the cashier. You immediately pulled your book back up and felt your cheeks burn. You couldn't believe Soonyoung just winked at you. He doesn't even know you. You felt so flustered that even attempting to finish your book just wasn't going to happen right now.

You speedily gathered your belongings back into your bag, slammed your now luke-warm coffee and shuffled your way towards the front door. You avoided making any more eye contact with Soonyoung as you opened the door and left the coffee shop. You let out a sigh of relief when you stepped out into the breezy autumn weather, letting the lower temperature cool off your blazing hot cheeks. After making it a few meters away from the shop you heard the familiar door chime go off behind you. You immediately started running down the sidewalk and away from the shop in hopes to avoid Soonyoung.

Thankfully by the time you turned the corner you realized no one was following you. With another sigh of relief you headed back to your apartment to take a shower and tried to forget about what just happened. Your mind was racing with curiosity. Once you were home and comfortable you eventually finished reading those last couple of pages. The books ending surprisingly didn't have an affect on you like you were expecting. All because Soonyoung's face was imprinted in your mind.

At this point you couldn't stop thinking about the strange interaction you had with Soonyoung so you decided to call your best friend, Dokyeom. Even though you're really close with Dokyeom and tell him just about everything he's also a part of Soonyoung's friend group, considering he's just as eye-catching as Soonyoung and his other friends. The first thing Dokyeom does is laugh when you tell him how you were trying to hide behind your book.
