One day you're looking around in different practice rooms closets and cupboards for your planner. You could've sworn you left it in one of the rooms, just didn't remember which room since they all practically look the same. Searching felt like an impossible task because you've already checked multiple different rooms now. You've been working at Pledis for a couple months and still in the process of learning the layout of the building.
The very last practice room you were about to check was actually occupied. You remembered Seventeen had dance practice today but without your ledger you didn't know what time. Part of you assumed it was Seventeen in the room while another part of you was nervous to enter, thinking it was a different group. You bit the bullet and entered the room as quietly as possible, letting out a silent sigh of relief when you found out it was the boys in the room.
While everyone was busy practicing and focused on the mirror in front of them, you continued searching to no end. The music stopped shortly after you entered the room then their dance instructor announced a short break. Moments later Wonwoo appeared next to you and caused you to jump. Wonwoo was surprised by your physical response to his suddenly presence.
"Oh gosh, you startled me." You said, putting your hand to your chest.
"Sorry Manager Park." Wonwoo apologized sweetly. "What are you doing?"
You told him about losing your planner and he offered to help you since he was on break. The rest of the members were sitting on the floor relaxing or scrolling on the phones while Wonwoo chose to help you.
"No that's okay, go rest for a bit."
But Wonwoo insisted. You shrugged and ended up accepting his help. You had Wonwoo look at the top of the cupboards since he's way taller than you are, while look in the cupboard closest to the floor. You weren't aware of it but Wonwoo watched your every move out the corner of his eye. He saw you bend down to look in the bottom cupboards and noticed how close your head was to the edge of the counter.
He nonchalantly covered the edge of the counter with his hand just to make sure you didn't hit your head on it. And without the two of you realizing it, some of the other members were watching you and Wonwoo. Soonyoung was the one that brought most of the members' attention to Wonwoo especially.
"Hey Seungcheol hyung, look at Wonwoo-ah." Soonyoung pointed.
"What about him?"
"Look at his hand. Wonwoo hyung is such a gentleman to our manager nuna." He continued to point at where Wonwoo's hand was on the counter.
Now everyone was looking at the way Wonwoo was protecting your head. And how he was very obviously just standing there watching you instead of helping you find your planner. Mingyu was the one to start cooing first since Wonwoo is his best friend and it was his job to tease him. Then everyone else started to join Mingyu, the room growing louder and louder.
Wonwoo flinched at the sudden obnoxious noise filling the practice room and turned around, his hand still on the edge of the counter. You looked over too, just as confused at what was going on. Half the members had their mouths covered while the other half were making kissing noises. It was making you mildly uncomfortable and you visibly cringed.
"Oooooh, Wonwoo hyung~ protecting manager nuna~ lover boy~" Soonyoung stood up and sang loudly.
Soonyoung's song made everyone around him laugh. The members purposely teased Wonwoo and it made him noticeably embarrassed but you didn't understand what was going on. Then you looked up at Wonwoo and noticed his hand on the side of the counter directly above your head. You started blushing, quickly standing up and clearing your throat. Wonwoo moved his hand and slid it in his sweatpants pocket as he avoided everyone's gaze by staring at the popcorn ceiling tiles.
"Hey! If you have time to laugh then you have time to work!" You shouted.
This hushed the room. The dance instructor agreed with you and announced that their break time was over. Everyone simultaneously apologized with a respectful bow, then started stretching. Before Wonwoo joined the rest of his colleagues you patted his back and said apologized to him for his friends' behavior.
"Don't listen to those guys. I appreciate you looking out for me." You said with a smile.
Wonwoo's heart felt like it was about to burst. His eyes scanned yours and the pink hue on his face darkened. He couldn't help but cover his mouth with the back of his hand and turn his head slightly to avoid your eyes.
"Any one of us would." Wonwoo mumbled.
You thought his shy demeanor was absolutely adorable. There was always something about Wonwoo that drew your eyes to him. You liked how he looks dark and serious all the time, but when he smiles he gives off a completely different vibe. You noticed after looking at pictures of Wonwoo online that when he smiles without his teeth it looks like he's forcing himself not to smile big. But when you're in the same space as Wonwoo and he smiles widely he practically lights up the room.
Seeing Wonwoo act shy around you made your heart flutter. You bit the corner of your lip and looked down at the ground in front of you, feeling just as shy as Wonwoo was. Then you noticed one of his shoes was untied. Instead of pointing it out to Wonwoo you decided to tie it for him, grabbing his arm to stop him from walking away.
Wonwoo was stunned. When he saw you kneel down just to tie his canvas shoe his legs almost gave out. Never in a million years did he ever imagine you tying his shoes of all things. Wonwoo's eyes were blinking rapidly while his cheeks were on fire. When you popped back up after tying his shoe you flashed him a quick smile. The look on Wonwoo's face surprised you and made you blush again, confused and embarrassed.
Just in time, one of Seventeen's other managers poked his head into the room and called out your name. You used that as your excuse to escape the awkwardness that suddenly filled the air. Your colleague was holding something familiar in his hand, waving it in the air at you. He was holding your missing ledger.
A sigh of relief left your lips and a big smile crossed your face. It felt like a weight had been lifted off your shoulders finally. You jogged over and grabbed your planner, giving the manager a side hug as thanks.
"You're a life saver, really. I can't thank you enough."
Your colleague laughed.
"How about buying me coffee as thanks?" He mentioned and you instantly agreed.
The two of you left the room and headed to the coffee shop in the building. You weren't aware of it but Wonwoo watched your entire interaction with the other manager and started feeling jealous. All because you gave the other manager a hug and was acting friendly with him. Hansol saw what happened too. So when Wonwoo finally joined the rest of the group during stretches, and Hansol saw the look on Wonwoo's face, the younger member nudged the older and teased him.
"Looks like you have competition, hyung." Hansol snickered innocently.
Wonwoo didn't realize you had such an effect on him that even his friends could see it on his face. But with that being said, he denied it and put on his usual poker face.
"It's not like that."
"Uh-huh..."
