-Stevie-
Laying on my side, watching Lindsey's eyes flutter as he ventures through his dreamland- I can't help but smile.
I've missed mornings like this, where we wake up together and we lay in bed for hours, talking. I have missed it all, and even if I kept my walls high for so long, they crumbled faster than I thought they would, but I'm glad.
It feels good to be loved and held all night long, even if we still have a lot to work through. It also feels great to wake up in the morning, after a night full of love and have absolutely no regret. I don't regret one moment of last night, which is different from the last time we found ourselves in this position.
I'm pulled from my thoughts by the sound of the baby monitor, which makes noise to let me know that Lynley is very much awake. "Okay," I reach over, quickly shutting it off before it can wake up Lindsey.
I slide out of bed, grabbing my robe to throw on over my shoulders and then I trail down the hallway. I slowly push open the door, just to be met by pink walls and the sound of a babbling baby girl. She's looking up at the ceiling, still in her sleep sack, all safe and sound.
"Hi, beautiful girl." I give her a big smile as I use my most cheerful voice. "Did you sleep well?" I wrap my hands around her, gently pulling her out of her crib to take her downstairs for a bottle. "Guess what, sweet girl?" I sit her down in her high chair as soon as I get her into the kitchen, so I can move around without her attached at the hip.
"Grandma and grandpa kept the whole house up." Lori walks into the kitchen, rubbing her tired eyes as she lets off a grin.
"Oh, gosh." I bring a hand up to my forehead trying to hide how red my cheeks just got.
Sharon lets out a big yawn as she slides into a kitchen chair. "But we can assume all good things came out of dinner, yes?" She wonders.
It's hard to explain what was said and how many emotions were felt last night at dinner. I know it wasn't easy for either of us to open up about the feelings we share, but it's even harder to try and allow someone else to understand the way we plan to grow as a couple.
"We have decided it would be best if we tried to work out our problems and become a couple again." I never thought I'd have to say those words, but I'm beyond grateful that I get to.
"Nice," Lori pulls a couple bowls down from the cabinet, along with a box of cereal.
"That's wonderful," Sharon responds as she waits for Lori to bring her a bowl of fruity pebbles. "Are you happy?" She asks, a gentle smiling radiating off her sleepy features.
"I am very happy," I tell her the truth, because I am happy, and last night proved to me that we can be together and in love again. "Feel free to eat whatever you want, okay?" I say to them as I pick Lynley back up from her chair, holding her on my hip to let her drink her milk.
"Love you," Lori is so out of it- almost like she drank all the wine last night and Sharon only got a couple sips.
"Love you," I chuckle, carrying the baby back up the staircase and into my bedroom.
He's still wrapped in the sheet, on his stomach as his head is slightly turned towards my side. He's so handsome, and I love everything about sharing my bed with him, mainly because the warmth his body produces makes me feel so safe all night long.
I crawl back in next to him, sitting up against the headboard to help Lynley drink comfortably. This is something I can get used, every morning for the rest of my life. I could wake up next to him every day forever and I would still be happy, and I think he feels the same way, especially after last night.
"Good morning," I say once he's started to slowly open his big blue eyes.
"Good morning, baby." He gives me a sleepy smile, hand falling on my thigh. "Did you sleep good?" He mumbles as he allows his head to hit the pillow once more.
"I slept great, and you?" I look from him back to Lynley, who is staring up at me.
"I slept amazing next to you, Steph." He slowly rubs my skin through my robe, which makes my heart skip a beat, because I know he means it. "And good morning to you, little one." He slowly pushes himself up the bed, leaning back against the headboard as he smiles wide at the baby.
Once Lynley realizes that he's talking to her, she drops her bottle in my lap to reach out her little hands for him.
"Are you still tired?" He asks her as she snuggles into his chest, while he rubs her back softly.
"I love you, Lindsey." I shift a little to look at him, one of my hands gently falling on the side of his face.
"I love you, Steph." He leans in, softly kissing my lips a couple of times.
