Served Her Right

Omega heard the bell ring. She gulped down the last bit of her sandwich before packing up her recess. She checked her timetable for the next two periods. She had Maths, with Mr Genoa—her brother—and then Science, again, with her brother.

Science was usually boring, or in the rare case, disgusting. Right now they were doing Natural Science. Maths was...maths. Nothing special there.

She hated her maths class. Not the teacher or content (okay, she did kinda hate the content), but the kids. None of her friends were there and the boys were so noisy and mucked up all the time. It didn't help with her anxiety.

She walked up the stairs and made her way to B13. She checked her watch. Shoot...she was running late.

"You're late," Tech said, without looking at her, in a creepy sing-song voice.

"Sorry Sir," Omega said, hastily sitting down next to the person she hated the most in this class.

Of course, Tech had to put her next to Alex...the noisiest person in the room. She hated this seating plan. He changed it every 3 week, but these next three weeks of Maths was going to be practically hell.

The room as noisy, as per usual. No one had gotten their books or pencil cases out, again, as usual.

"Okay...Anna?..." Tech began to mark the role.

Every student either answered with a 'here' or a 'hi'. All except Alex, who just grunted.

"You grunt again, I mark you absent and then you can explain to your parents why you were marked absent," Tech said, standing up.

Christie, one of the worst girls in the class, who was also in Omega's core class, chuckled quietly. Tech shot her a glare and she went silent.

"Alright...I need to talk to you guys," Tech said with a low voice. A few students whispered an 'uh oh' to their classmates. "You guys are not 4 years olds...are you? Cause if you are, I can send you back to kindergarten."

Omega knew exactly where this conversation was going. You see, last lesson, Tech was away because he had to go to a doctors appointment with his wife. A substitute teacher replaced him, and boy...she looked like she was about to run away crying after being with them for 20 minutes. Even though she was a horrible woman, the kids, especially Alex and Christie (they started it) were horrible to her.

She hated that lesson. No work got done and when she tried to stop Christie, the girl slapped her hard across the face. Omega had to sit in sick bay for the rest of the lesson, which to be honest, she liked...it was better than being in that hell of a situation.

...and a student was slapped. That is not okay," Tech said. Oops...Omega had missed half of the conversation. "I am disgusted by the way you treated her. I was so disappointed when I read the email. You guys can do better than that!"

"But Sir, she was horrible to us!" Christie complained.

"And you were horrible to her, Christie," Tech said. "See the problem here?"

"No," Christie said.

"Well that's disappointing," Tech said. "Just because someone is horrible to you, doesn't mean you have to be horrible to them. I've dealt with plenty of horrible people—I've dealt with you and Alex, but I'm not horrible to you, am I? No!"

Christie rolled her eyes and scoffed.

"It is my best interest to help you learn. That's why I'm a teacher, but I can't do my job if you won't allow me to. Their are people in this class who actually are here to learn. I got in trouble for your actions. You can't be kicked out of getting an education, it's a right, it's a law, but I can get fired," Tech said. "You, Alex and Carla are to stay with me for the whole of lunch. The rest of you, except Omega, Lilly and Colin are to stay with me for half of lunch."

Several groans were heard, but no objections.

"Seriously? That happened a week ago! Can't we just forget it?!" Christie said.

"Yeah, can't we just forget it, Goggles?" Alex chimed in.

"Both of you OUTSIDE NOW!" Tech yelled, pointing towards the door.

The whole class practically jumped at Tech's outburst. They quickly got their books and pencil cases out, as if they suddenly remembered.

"I'll be with you shortly," Tech said.

The whole class watched as Christie and Alex practically bolted out the door.

"Continue what you were doing when you had the Sub," Tech said, before walking out the door, closing it harshly behind him.

The loud bang of the door, scared everyone so much that they instantly got their laptops out and quietly started working. The only one who didn't start was Lilly. Lilly was a new student this week, so she had no clue what to do. Omega cringed as she heard Tech yelling at Alex and Christie.

He was so loud that the class could hear him from inside the classroom, even with the door shut. Omega knew they both were in serious trouble. It took a lot to make Tech angry, let alone this angry.

Omega looked at Lilly as she burst into tears. Poor girl, it was her first maths class. Omega got up and went over to help her.

"I don't know what to do..." she said with a hoarse voice.

"Don't worry, I'll help you," Omega said. "And he's not usually like this...Sir, I mean."

Finally, Christie and Alex came back in, with Tech following.

Christie walked back to her desk and plonked herself down, instead of dramatically sitting herself down and flicking her hair back dramatically. Alex grumbled as he sat down. They both worked quietly for the rest of the period.

Omega found that Christie was even quiet and worked hard in Science too. Lyana had asked Omega what happened to Christie, but Omega just replied with 'she got what she deserved'.

Both Lyana and Omega had no trouble with Christie (or Alex, for that matter) for a long time.

So...this is basically the tale of my own Maths class. We have a PE teacher as our teacher once a week, as she is very loud.
