"So...a lot has changed in Central City; Caitlin is forever Killer Frost, you don't have your hands, therefore you can't use your powers, Joe hates me, Wally's paralysed, Mirror Master and Top are back, and I'm a complete..." Barry said, trying to find the word to describe his future self.
"Idiot?" Cisco suggested.
"Yeah," Barry agreed.
"Nothing's changed anywhere else, right?" Barry asked. "I mean...because of me?"
"Hyrule," was all Cisco said. It was all he needed to say. "There's a portal that Tech opened. It's highly hidden, but I found it. Only those with the Speed Force or the Seeker's power could go through and/or bring others through."
"Tech never closed it?" Barry asked.
"No," Cisco said.
"Why?" Barry asked.
"It's easier if I show you," Cisco said, leading Barry to the portal.
After getting to Hyrule, Cisco led Barry to the graveyard.
"That's why," Cisco said, pointing to a grave with Tech's name on it. "Killer Wolf killed him. Well, more like Tech let Killer Wolf kill him, as he was hell-bent on doing so."
"Why?" Barry asked. "Why would Tech—I don't understand."
"Savitar killed Phee when she was pregnant," Cisco said. "He found her dead on the street the next morning."
"Oh god," Barry said, putting his hand over his mouth. "I brought them into this, didn't I?"
"Yes," Cisco said. "You did."
"Hunter's Killer Wolf," Barry said. "I need to see him."
Cisco led Barry to the prison for magical people.
At least he's in a prison like Killer Frost, Barry thought.
"If the scientists can figure out how to turn him back into Hunter, then he's free to go, but Killer Wolf stays here...forever," Cisco said. "Tech died 7 years ago in September, and Hunter became Killer Wolf 7 years ago in June."
Cisco told the policemen what they were here for and the policemen led them to Killer Wolf's cell.
"Hunter Turrfield?" Barry asked, addressing the criminal by his actual name.
"I don't go by that name anymore," Hunter growled.
"I fought a guy named Hunter. Hunter Zolomen," Barry said.
"I know, you idiot. I was there. Well, not me, Hunter was," Hunter said, sitting up from his tiny cot.
"I know who Savitar is. You're going to answer my questions ," Barry said.
"And why would I do that?" Hunter asked, standing up and tapping his sharp claws on the glass as his eyes fell on Cisco's gloved hands. "How's life with bionic arms?" He sneered.
"Hey! Hey!" Barry called, banging his fists on the glass, as Cisco hid his hands behind his back.
"I don't answer to you, Flash," Hunter sneered, and Barry hated how he said his title. "You left me!
Barry frowned, needing to find out more.
"Please. Tell me. How did you become Killer Wolf?" Barry begged.
"I can already tell your not the Flash from 2024," Hunter said.
"No. I'm from 2017," Barry said.
"The year it all began...and fell apart," Hunter scoffed. "The year your precious Iris died."
"She's not going to die," Barry said.
"Keep telling yourself that," Hunter said. "Fine. I'll tell you what you want to know, but only because I want to imagine you trying to prevent it and then being so, so sad because you are just not fast enough. The truth is: you will never EVER be fast enough, Barry Allen."
"What happened to you," Barry said. "How did you become Killer Wolf?"
"You were careless after Iris died. You were hell-bent on killing Savitar. You were dying. Savitar was about to kill you. I saw you as a brother, so I took my cuff off and unleashed my power to save you. Once you had escaped, I ran, struggling to hold off Killer Wolf. I thought that you would come back for me, but you didn't even make an attempt to come back for me. Savitar came and showed who I could be, and I was so upset—no, angry—that you hadn't come back for me, so I gave into Killer Wolf," Hunter said. "I meant what I said when I said that you did this to me."
Barry nodded and left.
He vowed that he wouldn't let Iris die, he wouldn't let Phee die, he wouldn't let Cisco loose his arms, he wouldn't let Hunter become Killer Wolf, he wouldn't become reckless, he'd fix Caitlin, he'd be there for Tech, he'd be there for Wally, he'd be there for Joe, he'd be there for Julian and he'd stop Savitar.
Happy Saturday!
