TW: Sad

It had been exactly three months ago that Hunter had been diagnosed with cancer. It had been three months ago that Omega's life got a lot more stressful.

She had been juggling uni, childcare, and looking after Hunter and she almost was about to call the Childcare Centre to quit. Out of everyone in her family, she had the most amount of time at home. Which was either spent looking after Hunter or studying and sometimes listening to online lectures.

She was running on 5 hours of sleep each day and lots of caffeine. Hunter had no partner to help him, so her and her brothers had to step in. Which no one complained about.

She was happy though. Rex was coming down from the army to see his family. Given the circumstances, he wanted to see Hunter. Omega hoped that he could help look after him while she slept or studied. She was definitely quitting Childcare. She'd already sent her 2 weeks notice of termination.

They were waiting for the results of the tests the hospital did for Hunter. They were hoping that Hunter's cancer had gone down from Stage 3, but were nervous as there was a possibility it could've gone up to Stage 4.

"We pray for Hunter's health," her family said as they prayed after dinner every night.

She also prayed heavily when they went to church every Sunday. She only hoped it was enough.

Omega was at her friend's birthday party, which was something she absolutely had to make time for. It was her best friend, after all. Rex was down and at the house looking after Hunter.

She almost hadn't made it to the party on time because the hospital was running behind schedule, so Hunter's Chemotherapy started (and finished) lot later than planned. She had driven him home and dashed to get changed, in which she regretted her decision of not getting changed before Hunter's therapy session. She dashed out of the house, saying a quick bye and drove to her friend's house. She was early to the party by one minute.

"I swear I saved an extra hour and a half to counter for traffic, losing things, Hunter's session being a little late or going overtime, but I did not expect for it to be an HOUR late," Omega said to her friend who was sipping some cordial.

"Maybe save 2 hours next time, and losing stuff? Really?" Lana, her friend, said.

"You know how I have a terrible habit of losing things," Omega said, sipping her own drink. "And 2 hours is a stretch isn't it?"

"Not when it comes to hospitals and especially clinics. They are NEVER on time," Lana said.

"They were asking me so many questions and I kept checking the time and I was panicking towards the end of the session. Cause I was like 'Oh my gosh. I need to go! I haven't gotten changed yet and stuff!'" Omega said. "Oh and your present is on the way. Its delivery got delayed."

"Really?" Lana asked. "And you are such a worry-wart. Girl, I wouldn't have cared if you were late so long as you showed up!"

"I can't control when things arrive! Plus, me being here is a present in itself," Omega said.

"Have you considered getting a nurse?" Lana asked.

"Yes, but it's too expensive," Omega said as her phone rung. She checked who it was and got worried when she saw the caller id. It was Rex. "I gotta take this."

She headed outside and took the call. "Hey Rex, is everything okay?"

"Well, we got a call from the Doctor's Office," Rex said over the phone.

"Has the Cancer regressed?" Omega asked.

Rex's next words broke her heart. "No...it's progressed to Stage 4."

"Oh no," Omega said, trying not to break down. "Thank you for telling me. Goodbye."

With that she hung up and headed back into the house. She got to Lana before she broke down.

"Omega?" Lana asked.

"Oh Lana," Omega cried. "I got a call from Rex saying that Hunter's Cancer had progressed to Stage 4."

"Oh...nooo!" Lana said. "Poor Hunter."

Poor Hunter indeed.

Time had gone by and Hunter wasn't getting better. Only worse. Yesterday he had to be hospitalised and his 2-hour Chemotherapy sessions had gone to 3-hour sessions. Rex had decided to stay down for longer because they were unsure if Hunter was going to live for much longer. His brothers and Omega have been taking it in turns to be with him in the hospital too.

Now, they were starting to pray for a miracle. Hunter could barely stay awake for long periods of time now and he was so weak. He needed a nasal cannula to help him breathe too.

A few more days went by and it was time to do the tests again. The wait for the results was agonisingly long and everyone was on the edge of their seats when the doctor came in.

"Hello," she said, holding Hunter's file. "I have some news that I think you guys want to hear."

"Please tell me it's regressed," Omega said.

"It...has...it has regressed to Stage 3. Which might I add, is extremely rare. He's on the right path to recovery," the doctor said.

Omega could've jumped for joy right there and then had it not been for her not wanting to let Hunter's hand go.

"Thank you so much," Omega said.

"No problem. We'll keep him in the hospital for a few more days, maybe weeks, just to check that he is going to be okay," the doctor said.

Omega nodded and the doctor left. She squeezed Hunter's hand and looked at the others. They were going to be okay. Finally, they had been granted a miracle.

Happy at the end! I'm not a medical expert, so don't quote me on everything. I did a heck of a lot of research for this lol. Hope you enjoyed. The next one will probably be sad again...sorry ya'll.
