Proper Memorial

Hunter didn't know what to feel when he picked his broken and bruised vod up from the ground of Eriadu. He felt happy, but also sad.

It's was a long journey back to the Marauder, but when they got back, they hooked Tech up to monitors and a life support machine. He had flatlined a few times during the ride to Pabu, but he was still alive currently.

They had rushed him to the hospital, hoping that the staff would be able to save him. They tried, but all they could do was put him and life support and hope he pulled through.

It had been 2 weeks and Tech still hadn't gotten off life support. The hospital had told the batch that it would be better to just pull the plug and end his suffering, but they had refused to.

"Do we do it Hun'er?" Wrecker asked, looking blankly at the sheet the hospital that given them to sign that that they could pull the plug.

Hunter couldn't bring himself to say yes. He knew it was the right thing, and he didn't want his brother to suffer, but he didn't want him to die either.

Hunter took a stroll outside where Rex decided to join him.

"You know it's the right thing to do," Rex told Hunter.

"I can't...it's just...not easy to end his life," Hunter said.

"He's suffering, Hunter," Rex said. "You want him to suffer?"

"No! I don't...but..." Hunter said, beginning to cry.

"Hey...we can do it together?" Rex suggested. "Would that be okay?"

Hunter nodded and the two made their way back to the hospital. They called the others in and Hunter explained to them that it was the right thing to do. He signed the paper with a heavy heart and the hospital let them have a moment to save their goodbyes.

"Hey Tech..." Hunter whispered, kneeling at Tech's bedside. "I hope this helps...and just know...we all love you...I'm sorry...I wasn't strong enough to save you, but...I hope now...you can rest in peace...and be with all our other lost brothers..."

Everyone said their goodbyes and called the nurse back in. Hunter had asked if he and Rex could pull it instead of her, and she said yes.

Omega held Tech's hand as Hunter and Rex knelt down. With tears streaming down his face, Hunter, with the help of Rex, pulled the plug out of the power board. Omega cried on Tech's chest as she felt his heart stop and he flatlined.

This was it...Tech is gone...forever.

The whole of Pabu were dressed in black, and gathered around the beach each holding an unlit lantern a match box.

"We gather here today to say goodbye to Tech...a beloved brother and friend..." Shep said. "I'd like to invite Omega to the stage to say a few words about her dear brother and to send him off with her lantern, followed the rest of our lanterns."

Omega stepped onto the stage, looking at her brother's coffin that was inside a boat.

"Tech was...difficult to get along with at times, but he was so sweet and kind...and had a terrible sense of humour."

Some of the crowd laughed.

"But he was still my brother...and I miss him so much...and I've spent hours trying to figure out what to write, but...I think this song that I'm going to sing...sums up pretty much everything I wanna say."

Hunter stepped on the stage to sing with her.

But something told me that wouldn't last. Had to switch up, look at things different, see the bigger picture. Those were the days, hard work forever pays. Now I see you in a better place.🎶

Omega pushed the boat onto the water and let it float off as she lit her lantern and pushed it towards the boat so it floated behind the boat. The rest of Pabu lit their lanterns and sent them off too.

Tech would finally rest in peace and he got the memorial he deserved.
