Chapter 7: George Mcfly

Saturday November 5th 1955
9:30AM

As Marty and Chris walked into the town square they were shocked to see how different and how cleaned it looked, the movie theatre which last showed an X-rated movie was now showing a movie called Cattle Queen of Montana, they saw that the Bluebird Motel was now open as it had been closed the last time they were here, they got strange looks from the people walking by as their fashion choices didn't clash with the fashions of 1955, they even saw a bunch of men at the gas station working on a 50's era car, they even saw a record store which was in place of a real estate place.

But perhaps the biggest change of them all was the clock tower on the Hill Valley courthouse which was permanently stuck at 10:04PM now read and chimed 9:30AM, they walked through the drastically altered town square they saw a black Cadillac announcing the re-election of Mayor Red Thomas, which stunned them both as Goldie Wilson was supposed to be mayor, as somebody threw a newspaper into a nearby trash can, Marty then grabbed it to check the dateline which read Saturday November 5th, 1955, they suddenly froze with shock, 1955?, did they read that right?, did they really travel back in time?, after looking at the newspapers dateline for a few more moments it had really sunk it for the Mcfly Brothers they really had travelled back to 1955, Doc's time machine really did work

This has gotta be a dream! said Marty

We gotta find Doc, he'll help us said Chris

Marty and Chris looked across the street to see a diner called Lou's Diner, which meant they had a phone booth which meant they could call Doc, the boys then ran across the street and into the diner, which looked like a regular old diner, in the movies they'd seen that were set in the 1950's (such as Grease) They were always so over exaggerated with that 50's nostalgic whimsy, As Marty and Chris looked around, a man with an apron saw the two kids and saw their weird outfits they were wearing, this was Lou Carruthers the owner of the diner

Hey kid what'd you do jump ship?, and are you trying to be a lumberjack or something? Lou said

What? Marty and Chris said in confusion

What's with the life preserver and flannel shirt? asked Lou referring to Marty's red vest and Chris's red flannel shirt that he wore over his David Bowie t-shirt

We just want to use the phone said Marty and Chris

It's in the back said Lou as he pointed the boys to the phone booth in the back of the diner

Marty and Chris flipped through the pages of the phone booth trying to find Doc's phone number, after going through the listings of Browns, they finally found Doc's name and number as well as his address, Chris gave Marty a quarter from his pocket and he started dialing, and they were waiting for Doc to answer, when they got no answer he hung up the phone, Chris grabbed a pen from the counter, circled Doc's number and his address which read 1640 Riverside Drive and ripped the page out of the phone book, before they could leave the diner they had to ask for directions as they didn't know their way around 1955 Hill Valley, so they walked up to the counter to ask Lou how to get to Riverside

"Excuse me, Do know where 1640 Riverside Driv-

You kids gonna order something? Lou asked interrupting Marty and Chris's question

Come to think of it Chris was getting pretty hungry and Marty wanted something to drink, so they told Lou want they wanted

Yeah, give me a Tab said Marty

Lou was confused by Marty's order, he thought he meant he wanted his order on his tab

Tab?, can't give you a Tab unless you order something said Lou
