Chapter 5

15 August(Thursday)

Alex's POV

The week has certainly flown by.Its already thursday reminding me Josh leaves for camp tomorrow, and I have to succumb to spending my birthday alone.Josh is super excited, he hasn't stopped talking about the camp all week.He has never been on a camp before, so this is the first for him.Not to mention that I had to hear him rave, all week about his new favourite person in the world Luke. He's been gloating about the gift, and how cool Luke is, and so on and on.I have to agree though it was sweet of him to drive all the way to our house just to apologise, and very thoughtful of him for bringing a gift.At first I was really pissed, but when I noticed the joy he brought to Josh, all my defenses fell.Therefore I agreed to letting Josh receive the gift.Seeing joy on my sons face warms my heart, because there were very few times in the past that he was genuinely happy.Luke's a really special guy, but not for the likes of me.I have to admit though,he's been affecting me from the first time I saw him at the store,even when I thought he was a psycho.Each time he's near I feel like my temperature has gone up, and I get this kinda tingly feeling in the pit of my stomach.This feeling which I've never felt before, and never expected to feel is not for me.And these feelings if not hidden will leave me brokenhearted. Therefore my wall is back, and thankfully I don't have to see him again.

I get to work early today, and grab two cups of coffee, and a box of donuts for the office from Mrs Dooly.Since it's my birthday on Saturday,I think its a good idea to give the office some donuts.Even though nobody except Jen knows it's my birthday, and I'd like to keep it that way.I just think of it as 'secret donuts' and I laugh to myself.I reach the office floor, and place the the donuts on the reception desk in front of Amy.

"Good morning Alex." She beams.

"Good morning Amy." I return with a smile.

"Are these donuts from Mrs Dooly?" She asks excitedly.

"Yes they are Amy.They're for the office.Please let everyone know."

"Sure thing Alex.Will do."

I walk around the corner to Jen's office, and tap lightly on the door.Hoping she's in.

"Come in."she replies."Good morning Alex." She beams excitedly.

"Morning Jen.Here I got you coffee." I say handing her the cup.

"Omg Alex, you're a life saver." She rants."I had such a late night.Cole is..... just so...Mmm you know ?"She starts to say closing her eyes, but I stop her by shaking my head.She still continues."He had me up most of the night, doing all sorts of wonderful things....... ooohh my."

"Um no, please stop." I raise my hand."I dont wanna know the details of Coles and your night.Omg! Jen, thats sooo....Please stop."I groan closing my eyes.

"I'm just kidding. It's not like that.The guys were busy in the studio till late.So I had a late night.Hence the reason for my tiredness."She laughs" You're looking all snazzy. By the way I love the outfit.The colour is a perfect contrast against your skin"She smiles mischievously.

"Thanks Jen.I actually did take extra time dressing this morning."

I have on a cream knee length fitted dress suit, and cream heels.My hair is in a bun, instead of hanging down my back, and I even have on light make up.I'm feeling pretty good this morning

"You look great as well Jen, considering you had a late night, but then again you always look great."I smile

"Thank you me lady." She says standing up, and taking a bow."

"You're too much Jen."I say, and we both burst out laughing.

"Listen Jen.I was wondering. If you're not busy Saturday. Maybe we could grab dinner or... something?"I really hope she can, because I really don't want to be alone.
