Alex's POV
When I think back to yesterday night. I feel a ray of hope. It felt so good to spend time together, just Luke, Josh, and I.We may not be a family, but it feels like we could, even though the odds might be against us. Luke seems really good with Josh, and Josh has found a new favourite person. After Luke left last night. Josh went on and on, about how cool, and how good Luke is. He just couldn't stop raving about Luke. I had to stop him, and send him to bed. When I think about Luke. I marvel at how easy it is to be around him. To get caught up in the moment. But its not reality. It seems we've forgotten that Luke is famous, and we don't belong in his world. Even though it's nice having Luke in our lives. A part of me cant help but wonder if Josh will be affected if Luke becomes absent in our lives. I have a feeling he will, because he's accustomed to seeing Luke around now. That's become my worst fear apart from others. I may be able to move pass it, but I'm not sure Josh will. I know Luke has spoken of forever, but its difficult to plan forever, when all I'm used to is just a day. I stopped planning a future along time ago, and its difficult to start now. I'm just going to have to take it has it comes.
Today is one of those really chilly days, and going out to lunch doesn't seem like a bright idea. So I decide to grab a cup of soup from the machine. I head out of my office, and I notice there is a crowd around Amy's desk. Including Jen. I just ignore there chatting, and turn to the machine to grab my soup. Once I'm done I make my way to my office, but Jen stops me.
"So Alexandra. Aren't you going to ask about this chaos?" She smiles
"No Jen. I'm not into office gossip. And I'm freezing. So I prefer the warmth of my office." I grin
"Oh shush Alex. Come on let me show you." She says. Basically dragging me to the reception desk.
"Jen stop. I'm freezing." I whine, but she's not hearing any if it.
We stop at the desk, and I don't see anything unusual. Except half of the office there. Actually it's only the woman. Which is only about 10 of us
"Umh Jen. What is going on?" I ask , because I don't see anything unusual
"Well. Tomorrow is the awards remember, and Mr Piper has sent us. All the ladies. A surprise. Which is in the boardroom. So we need to go there now." She smiles. " Come on ladies, lets go." She addresses the ladies.
I really don't want to, and remain where I am, but Jen looks back giving me the eyes
"Come Alex." She urges
I walk pass her. Sticking my tongue out. Not caring that, that's a bit childish. She just laughs. We enter the office, and I take a seat just like the rest of the ladies. Jen doesn't. She moves to the front, and starts speaking
"So ladies. We all are aware, that tomorrow is the awards right?" She grins
Everybody responds with cheers. Nice. They all seem so excited. I'm not even attending, so I shouldn't be here. I get up, trying to make an escape for it, but Jen stops me
"Alex. Sit." She says firmly, but smiles
I remain seated, and listen without paying attention. As soon as she stops, she walks to the side, and pulls out an extremely long trolley type railing. Everybody just looks confused. But when she removes the covering, they gasp in surprise, because hanging there, are beautiful evening gowns. At the bottom are shoes, and accessories galore. Wow! Even I'm impressed. They're all so beautiful. Even though I'm not attending, a beautiful white dress, with black bead work, gets my attention, but I dismiss it momentarily.
"Surprise ladies!" Jen voice booms." Mr Piper sent this over, so 'his female staff' looks as extravagant as the rest of the people attending. So come on. There's something for ever......."
