Belle's POV

Adam and I have been working together as a team, surprisingly. He kills the animals and I harvest the fruits. It's like we are living in the Fertile Crescent and we are a match made in heaven. He's a hunter and I'm a gatherer.

We don't have much of a romantic connection, that I know of.

"Belle, today I'm going to teach you how to hunt."

"No way." I shake my head.

"Yes way." He says as he grabs my hand. He gives me his bow and arrow, and he tells me to have a light step.

"I don't know why you are trying with this. I'm not skilled enough to do this," I whisper. He rolls his eyes. I stop in my tracks, "Why are we even doing this?"

"Because Belle."

"That's not a good enough reason."

"If I die, you need to know how to hunt." I'm taken aback. I completely forgot that one of us is probably going to die soon.

"I won't let that happen." I say.

"Loosen up, will ya? I didn't mean for you to get all serious. I'm just trying to help you."

He shows me how to use the bow and arrow, by teaching me the correct stance. "Like this," he says sliding my arms up or down to make sure they are in the right places.

We stay quiet waiting for an animal to pass us. A wolf is walking past us, without a pack. Adam nudges me as to say- go for it.

I pull back and release the arrow and luckily it hits him square in the head. The wolf collapses and Adam gives me a pat on the back, "I knew you had it in you."

He starts to make a fire when I realize that I should be teaching him my job as well. "If you're teaching me how to hunt, then you need to know how to gather."

"No offense, but I don't think it's that difficult."

"Okay, I'll cook this and you go fetch some berries," he groans and walks to some of the nearby bushes.

He comes back with a handful of berries. "We would have both been dead if we ate that. That's night lock." For the rest of the night I tell him everything I know about plants.

We are both exhausted by the end of the day, but Adam volunteers to take watch. "Thank you for today." I say and kiss him on the cheek.

I walk away, when I'm being pulled back to him and his lips crash into mine.

At first I tense up, wondering how I didn't see this coming. Then I let myself be happy, even if it's the last good moment I'll have left.

*Tarzan's POV

I have a plan that could get me killed, but what else is new.

I remember the tracker they planted into my arm, and I wonder if it is connected to my heart. Maybe if I take it out of my arm, they will think I'm dead?

I take a nap during the day so I can operate on myself at night. I know that the cameras don't have that great of night vision.

I lay awake looking at the stars, watching three girls' pictures portrayed in the sky. I try to remember how many people there are left but I've lost count.

I get my knife slowly out of my bag, and start to cut a hole in my arm. Creating no sudden movement means that the cameras will not focus on me. Although I want to cry out from pain, I restrain myself.

It's tiny and hard to see, but I pull out the small metal clip and rest it next to me. I bandage myself up, but I know that it's not going to heal easily.

The metallic taste of blood fills my mouth from biting my tongue so hard.

Tonight I will get out of here.

I climb down from my hut and pick some berries. If I disguise them as night lock and pass out they may think I'm dead.

I shout into the woods, "I can't do this anymore! I love you Jane, please don't hate me. I will see you soon." I dramatically put a handful of berries into my mouth and collapse.

I detach some of the wires that were connected to the chip, hoping that it works.

Not even after a minute, I hear and cannon and the hovercraft is coming. A metal claw scoops me up and I am making my way back to civilization.

Being brought up into the hovercraft I wonder if I should open my eyes or not. I crack my eye open slightly to see my surroundings.

There's one other peacekeeper, that I can see. I grab a knife next to the metal table I'm on and quietly creep off. The guy didn't even see what hit him.

I change out of my clothes and chop off my hair, so no one will recognize me. At least from the back. I'm in a peacekeeper uniform, with a black tinted helmet so you can't see my face.

I kill the pilot as well and drive the flying plane into the Capitol. I land it and get on the nearest train to District 10.

*Jane's POV

I'm woken up in the middle of the night, but someone knocking, no pounding, on my door. I jump out of bed, bracing myself for the worst.

Tarzan's mother is in tears and I crumble to the floor. "He's gone," she whimpers.

I let all of my emotions out, wondering how I'll live my life without him. "Thank you for letting me know." I say, and it's all I can think to say.

She leaves and I'm left in the middle of the living room sobbing, alone. I always knew he was going to die, whether it was in the games or here, but this was too much. It was too soon. Now I was alone.

I hear another knock, not wanting to answer it this time.

I have to put on a brave face, for this little girl inside me.

I open the door again, and a peacekeeper is standing in front of me. "Hello." I wipe the tears from my face. "Can I help you?"

"I've missed you." I'm suddenly confused of what's going on.

"I-" He pulls his helmet off and it's Tarzan.
