The very next day, Dante awoke at 5:15 to Alex barging into the guest room, shouting "Rise and shine, bitches!"
Dante rolled over onto her back. "Huh?"
They had ended up putting Abi, Shakira, and Dante in the guest room for the night, with Shakira sleeping on the floor and Abi and Dante sharing the bed. Noah was sleeping in the living room, and Hillbilly and Ace were in Ace's bedroom.
Dante was very confused as to why the heckity-heck she was being woken up earlier than 8:00.
Abi propped herself up on one elbow. "What are you doing up so early?" she asked Alex.
Alex froze. "You guys didn't forget that it's gala day, did you?"
"So?" Abi said. "Why do we need to be awake at-" she glanced at the alarm clock. "Five in the morning?"
"Actually, 5:15. I decided to let you sleep in a bit," Alex said matter-of-factly.
"You didn't answer my question," Abi said. "It's not going to take all day to get ready for a little party."
Alex scoffed. "Um, yeah it will! First we have to find you dresses, then we need to get our nails done, and then hair and makeup, obviously, and then-"
"Okay, okay." Dante held up her hands. "Chill. First, you need to wake up numb nuts over there-" She motioned to Shakira on the floor. "And fourth, I wanna get waffles."
"Deal," Alex agreed.
"What Dante meant to ask," corrected Abi. "Who's going to pay for all of this stuff?"
"Oh, my aunt has already covered it. She is loaded."
"Huh, cool. Well alright." Abi rolled out of bed. "Now we just need to get Shakira up."
"Oooh! I got it!" Dante called. "Shakira, we're getting waffles."
Shakira sprung up. "From where?"
Twelve hours later, Abi admired herself in Alex's mirror. She wore a long, flowing strapless red dress, and her hair was in loose curls. Abi applied one final coat of red lipstick, and smiled. She looked gorgeous. And she couldn't wait for Noah to see her.
Dante came and stood next to her. "Abi, you look almost half as good as me." She said it like a compliment, and Abi wasn't quite sure how to respond.
True to her word, Alex had found Dante a beautiful black dress that hugged her body and looked brilliant on her. Dante's hair was in a low style, and she was wearing a pair of silver heels that made her at least six-foot. Her makeup was dark and mysterious, and she loved it. She felt stunning, but she was Dante, and Dante's pretty cocky, so it wasn't much of a shock.
Sitting on Alex's bed was Shakira, who sipped another drink of her iced coffee through a straw. Alex, having heard about Shakira's need for sleep, had insisted on her drinking multiple cups of caffeine so Shakira could, and I quote, "Dance the night away and not fall asleep."
Shakira was wearing a pale blue mermaid-style dress, and her light hair was pulled back into a twisty updo. Her makeup was very natural, and her shoes were a simple pair of white stilettos. She loved this look, and was so so so hyper, because Alex had made her drink, like, a lot a lot of coffee.
Speaking of the devil, Alex sprinted into the room in a gorgeous green dress, panicking. "Have you guys seen my diamond necklace? Lydia got it for me and I love it and she would love it if I wore it to the gala and-"
"Hang on," Abi said. "The necklace around your neck?"
Alex looked down, grabbing the necklace that sat right below her collar bone. "Oh thank God." She exhaled. "I just always get so panicky before these things."
