"Aren't you going to celebrate Christmas eve with your family?" I look at axel who is currently being comfortable with the kitchen in a clean white apron.
"I am." he responded as he holds the pasta tong with one hand and the other holding the handle of the pan.
"Anong pang ginagawa mo dito, then? It's late, you should go bago ka pa ipahanap rito ng daddy mo." I crossed my arm, slightly getting chilly over the December breeze.
I wore a light blue striped, white long-sleeved polo for the very reason but I'm still getting cold over a swift caress of the wind. I look at the big, tall windows on the side or the room. I should tell glenda to close that window, pagabi narin.
"I will, rai but at least let me cook you dinner before I go, okay?" He glanced at me. "Sit down, I'm almost done."
"You know you don't have to, right? I have maids and plenty of hands who can serve me food. Hindi naman ako magugutom on a Christmas night." I said as if making sense.
Though I remember, all of the maids took their leaves dahil nga pasko and only glenda is left behind.
"Done!" He happily exclaimed. I sighed. You weren't even listening at all.
Naupo na lang ako sa stool and settled on the countertop table. Lumapit siya at nilapag ang isang white plate sa harap ko and came back with the pan of pasta.
My eyes fell on his right wrist in which the black rolex I gave him as a gift is wrapped around it. I had his name engrave on the glass ring of the watch. A. Ferrel. He almost never takes it off.
He twirled it with the tong as he puts it on my plate before garnishing with more cheese and a bit of parsley, making the creamy carbonara more pleasing in my eyes. Umalis siya at pagbalik ay may dala nang dalawang wine glass at red wine.
"Where did you get that?" I asked while he pops it open.
"I brought it kanina." He poured both glasses half full.
My nostrils thrilled to the smell of the pasta he cooked for me was excited to have a taste of it in my tongue.
I got my fork and twirled a small portion of it and there was no sense of doubt. The creaminess and cheesiness of the pasta was of delight, it felt like it was melting on my mouth.
"This could be my new favourite food." I smiled, twirling another fork full.
"It's that good?" Axel asks, smirking and leaning a bit forward to me. His arm on the corner of the countertop table to support him.
"Very."
"Yeah?" Tanong niya pa na medyo may galing kapilyohan.
I nod as I chew my pasta not minding him beside me. Please, let me eat my pasta in peace.
"Rai." Pagtawag niya but I didn't respond yet as I currently took a fork full of pasta to my mouth. "Rai..." He called on my name again, this time medyo malumanay na.
"Baket?" I don't know, but there's just something whenever he calls me in the first syllable of my name.
It's like he took my name and made it as his own endearment for me and now I'd prefer it better than him calling me love or baby.
I looked away, biting my lip and... I'm probably blushing over such trivial things.
"I'll be leaving soon and I haven't really eaten yet." Aniya.
"You should go na. Siguro naman ay maraming pagkain doon sainyo." Sagot ko at inatupag na lang ang pagkain.
Nagpaikot ulit ako ng pasta at saka sumubo. Ugh. I really can't get over it's taste, I should ask him about how he made it para ipagawa ulit kay manang silvia sa susunod,
