PHOENIX

PROLOGUE

Aurora looked around the hall, it's not even a hall, it's more like a mansion. It has large doors on different sides and there were huge chandeliers that shone upon the elegantly dressed people in the hall and there were waiters who were dressed in suits and they were carrying trays of drinks and expensive wines. Aurora didn't know that waiters dress in suits. Rich people and their weird ways, she thought. Sighing out of pure boredom, she left her mother's side as she realized her mother won't stop talking to a particular lady whose name she doesn't even care to know.
Her mother was probably doing what she calls 'connecting with other rich house wives like herself .

As she walked along the corridors of the big house, she came across an open door and as she entered, she was met with the feeling of cold air. She smiled and twirled in it and even opened her mouth as though she's taking in all the air. It feels nicer to be outside than to be stuck inside inhaling different brands of perfumes coming out of the women's body in the hall, including her mother's Rory thought as she stifled a laugh. She suddenly felt eyes looking at her and she looked back meeting with nothing but the bright light in the place that looks like a garden. She shrugged it off and decided to explore the place a bit. It had beautiful flowers, she noticed. As she stood under a tree, she felt leaves falling on her head and as she tried to move away from the tree, she stepped on what she later realizes that is a banana peel. She slipped and fell and she let out a little ouch. She felt the tree shake and a boy jumped down in front of her and held out his hand for her to hold on to. She swatted the hand away as she stood up on her own holding onto the tree for support. She raised her head to give a piece of her mind to the boy who she suppose threw the banana peel on the floor. Rory was met with grey like pair of eyes. She was shocked by his features, the boy has perfect brows long lashes and a very sharp jawline. All in all, he looked handsome.

"Seriously, what's with you and opening your mouth?" The boy asked. That was when Rory realized that her mouth was indeed agape, she quickly closed it and her cheeks turned red as she turned to reply to the boy "I'm just shocked at how ugly you are, seriously can you get more uglier?" She replied while doing a little cheer in her mind for her come back "I'm not shocked at what is coming out of your mouth. Seems like the bugs from earlier messed with your brain and then your eye sight"

"What bugs are y...." Aurora trailed off then remembered how she opened her mouth wide earlier. She face palmed herself at the thought of someone looking at her as she was smilling all alone earlier. She couldn't be more embarrassed. A guy thinks she was catching bugs with her mouth.
"Who are you and what are you doing here?" she asked
"Uhhh I think I should be the one asking that question" the boy replied as he looked around the garden.
"Well, the name's Aurora but my friends call me rory. You're not my friend so don't call me that"
"You wish girl" the boy scoffed as he looked her up and down. Fancy hairdo and dress but it seems she's uncomfortable in her dress as she kept pulling the fabric off her body. He then looked at her face, he noticed she had pair of unusual eyes, they were two different colours a head full of brown hair. She has a pretty face he thought, as he wanted to tell her that the garden was restricted, the girl tripped on the banana peel again and fell down .

With a sigh, he said "are you blind or what?"
"Are you a monkey or what? Who eats banana up In the tree like a monkey would?" Aurora asked . The boy then helped her up and Aurora saw that her dress had some dirt on it and she used her hands to clean it but the boy grabbed her hands and said "idiot, can't you see you're spreading it more?" "Well whose fault is that, go and get me some water to wipe it off or my mum is going to kill me" she yelled and looked up at the tall boy who has an amused expression on his face.
" hmph, what's funny"
" nothing princess, I'll go get the water now" the boy then turned to leave. Aurora wanted to ask him if he knows his way around the very big mansion he already disappeared into the corner.
' maybe he's a worker here and he had the guts to mock me like that ' Aurora huffed as she sat under the tree waiting for the boy to come back with the water.
" madam, here she is" Aurora heard a familiar voice that's of her mother's PA, miss Patricia ' oh Lord, save me' Aurora thought.
The next thing she registered was her mother's angry face as she picked her up by the ear and slapped her hard.
"What are you doing? Huh you brat did you not see the restricted sign that this place is restricted" her mother yelled while dragging her out if the place.
Her eyes welled up with water "have you gone deaf, you even got your dress dirty. Ohhhhh, you are so in for it tonight. Why can't you be like your sister who's making important connections huh? But you are here roaming like a lost fool" Her mother yelled more. As they reached the parking lot, her mother pushed her inside their family limousine that brought them "stay here until the event is over and don't you dare come out, you hear me"
Aurora nodded her head as her mother slammed the door in the face. She faced the seat and started crying.

The boy came back with a bowl of water in his hands as he saw a woman slapped the girl, he stopped in his tracks and dropped the bowl, the water splashing everywhere. The woman seemed not to hear that as she was busy yelling at the girl. He watched as she dragged the girl and locked her in the limo. He wanted to go and comfort the girl after her mother left but he thought it was none of his concern so he turned his back and left the place thinking that it was his fault because he was the one who forgot to close the garden doors after he entered.
