Aurora fiddled with her fingers as she looked at lea with a nervous expression. She'd narrated everything that happened from that night till this moment but Lea had yet to say anything and still maintained a look of disbelief on her face. Aurora looked down at her empty cup wishing she hadn't finished the drink quickly before lea even said anything.
"Well, say something" Aurora probed
"I don't know what to say...I mean, i don't know where to start saying something because I'm mad at you but I also feel sorry for your ordeals and the conflicting emotions are making it difficult for me to say something. Why didn't you tell me rory? I would have done something, you know I would've" lea exclaimed
"It's not like I planned on getting kidnapped or meeting a stranger who'd allow me stay in his house for a week. It's just that I barely escaped that night and I was injured, shot and i was scared a-and overwhelmed with everything that happened. It scared me to know that there's someone who wanted me kidnapped or worse...dead and I..I just felt like the person may still want to harm me. That was why I requested Jason to allow me stay at his place for a while.
I knew I was going to leave that place eventually. I mean..graduation Is around the corner, i have to continue the designs for my debut and my grandparents will be back in the country soon. That was why I called you. I'm sorry for not telling you, i just didn't want to interrupt your time with Cameron" Aurora explained now on the brink of tears
"Hey, it's okay. You'll be fine, i can't even imagine what that experience was like for you. I'm so sorry for not being there when you needed someone and when you were going through that horrible phase of being shot..wait, where were you shot? Are you okay now? Do we need to book a doctor's appointment? Do you have any broken....." Lea couldn't finish as she started to panic
"Don't panic. It's not your fault. Jason took very good care of me, he called a doctor who gave me treatment. I'm fine now, no broken bones. All hale and hearty girl. I'm not dying anytime soon"
"We should report this to the police. The culprits needs to be apprehended" lea said
"There's no need for that, Jason filed a police report and the men that kidnapped me were captured and they confessed that it was Eleanor who asked them to kidnap me for a little while. Apparently, she asked them to kidnap me to show who's bigger between she and i"
Upon hearing the name, lea wiped her tears and exclaimed furiously "Eleanor, that wretched bitch. I've always known her to be always jealous of you since her stupid boy toy had his eyes on you"
"I didn't expect her to go through with her threat though. I just thought she said everything she said in a fit of anger" Aurora said as she recalled what transpired between her and Eleanor. Eleanor was the only child of her rich family and she attends the same university as Aurora and Lea. Eleanor's ex-boyfriend Enzo had taken a liking to her and would disturb her every time to go out on a date with him.
When Eleanor got wind of the news from other students in the school, she went to meet Aurora with the thought that Aurora was the reason Enzo broke up with her. She threatened Aurora of things she'd do if she did not stop seducing Enzo. Aurora recalled her exact words in the hall that day "get your filthy self away from Enzo if you value your life and If not, be my guest. We both know no one is going to search for you if you went missing". This triggered lea to go looking for Eleanor when she heard what she said to Rory. If not for Aurora and the few girls that were present in the cafeteria, lea would have ripped her bleached hair off her head.
Aurora grimaced at the memory- her best friend is a violent human being. Aurora smiled when she heard the next words of lea "Never take a delusional girl's words lightly"
"Delusional?"
"Yea, she's a crazy delusional girl who's stuck up in the past and wouldn't accept the fact that Enzo broke up with her because of her dumbness and crazy attitude"
"Hmm, true" Aurora replied wiping her face with a paper towel
"Yea"
"But didn't you always say that you're crazy?" Rory asked teasingly
"Well, crazy has different types according to psychologists. Mine is good crazy while hers is bad crazy" lea replied with a smirk
"Okay miss good crazy, let's stop all this depressing talks and discuss what's next" Aurora said with a smile
"What's next?" Lea asked confusion marring her face
"Well, graduation's in a few days from now which means we'll be independent women weather we like it or not and I don't have any plans for a job or whatever"
"Independent women? My darling, I'll have you know that we are independent and doing fine. Instead of worrying about independence, you should worry about the fact that graduation is in a few days and we haven't shopped for clothes to wear. The ladies would've shopped for the latest dresses leaving the ones from last season and by God, I'm not wearing a dress from last season" lea exclaimed
"Do not fret m'lady, We'll be fine. I'll make our dresses, i made a few designs when I was at Jason's place. All we have to do is shop for nice and gorgeous materials for the dresses" Aurora smiled as she got up from the couch and made her way to the kitchen that was separated by a thin wall from the living room
"Oh, at Jason's eh. I don't even know him as Jason. We all call him Alex and I'm not even that close to him. He's arrogant and too closed off so I only got to see him a few times with Cameron because he's Cameron's friend. So tell me what did you say that made the great Alexander Chen allow you to stay in his house for as long as you want. Not only a house, his private residence that I've heard only a handful of people knows the location. Is there something I'm missing or something you should tell me rory?" Lea asked with an enthusiastic grin as she followed Rory into the kitchen
"There's nothing lea, come off it. I didn't even know he owned the place. All he told me was that his boss at Chen Corps owns it and decided to give a few employees some buildings in the residence to live in there" Aurora said as she checked the cupboard for ingredients she can use to cook
"Hmmm, i can totally understand why he didn't tell you. He might find you amusing and decided not to tell you his real identity" lea laughed out loud as she said that
"Oh-ha-ha, keep laughing at my misfortune alright? Some best friend you are"
"So-sorry" lea said as she tried to contain her laughter "I'm not mocking you Rory, just think of it as a chance of getting to live with the CEO of Chen corporations for a week and enjoying All the privileges that came with it well, except for the fact that you didn't know he was the one so you did some pretty stupid things" lea said as she burst into another round of laughter
"Yea, pretty stupid things"
"Hey, we're women, we're allowed to be stupid and make dumb decisions so don't over think it. You'll be fine. Just focus on making the meal as delicious as it can be since its long I've last eaten what you cooked"
"Wow, you're a user, you know that" Aurora said with an eyeroll
"Yea, yea but You can't deny that I'm the bestest best friend in the while world"
"Bestest? What are you, four?" Aurora asked as she and Lea started laughing hard.
"So, how was Spain?" Aurora asked as she recovered from the laughter
"Oh, Spain is everything good and exciting girl"
"Oh, juicy. Tell me everything"
"We have all day and night for that but for now, let's focus on satisfying my stomach"
"Of course ma'am" Aurora replied smiling at the thought of how good it is that everything is back to normal but she can't help but miss a certain place or is it a certain person? she couldn't tell.
