Jason rounded up work at the office around nine and he's currently on his way to the house after he dismissed Mark. His eyes darted around for a particular shop and he parked his car when he finally reached the shop that 'Baker's world' was written in bold letters. He made his way inside the pastry shop and went to the counter to request for a cake
"I need a cake" he said to the employee at the counter who raised her head when she heard a particular deep and alluring voice. She was stunned when she looked at his face and his face was more alluring than his voice. She almost drooled at the sight of Jason and later snapped out of her daze at the words of the manager
"Ester, what are you doing, attend to the customer" a middle-aged woman who's the manager of the shop came from a door that led to the kitchen. She walked towards Jason and offered him a bright smile "Good evening sir, we're sorry about her. What would you like to get sir?"
"A cake"
"Oh, what type of cake sir? Is it for a birthday or a celebration? We have sponge cake, marble cake, chocolate cake and different others too"
"What type do ladies like? It's not for a celebration, she was craving it" Jason asked as he looked at the time in his watch
The manager awwed in her mind looking at the handsome man's face. Most of their customers were females and they only get male customers rarely but this man here would surpass all the other men. She couldn't blame Ester for swooning over the man.
"Oh, it's for your girlfriend then. Well, i suppose marble cake would do. It's a cake with vanilla and strawberry flavour" the manager said while she motioned Ester to go bring a marble cake
Jason didn't refute her question and just said "Okay, some pastries too"
"Okay, we have croissant, doughnut, meatpie, sausage roll with meat fillings and others" the manager gestured to the glass displaying all kind of pastries
"I'll have them all" Jason said as he handed over his card for the manager to swipe. The manager was astonished and swooned in her mind. This man is so caring, his girlfriend must be enjoying. Ester came back with a boxed cake and packed a box each of the pastries he asked for and put them all in a customized bag, she handed it over to Jason and said "Thanks for coming sir, do come again". Jason nodded and left the place.
"Ester what was the meaning of that? What if it was another man and he was in a hurry and you just stared at him like a fool, he'd have left angrily and that'd make us lose a customer" The manager chastised Ester
She apologized "I'm sorry miss Saffron, he's just so handsome" miss Saffron shaked her head and walked away when she saw that Ester was still looking at the door the man had walked out.
Jason got out of his car and made his way inside the house. He walked in and didn't see Aurora in the living room so he moved up the stairs and went inside her room. He saw her silhouette outside the room and moved to the balcony. He was shocked at what he saw and said
"What are you doing?"
Aurora turned her head fast enough to give her a whiplash. She dropped the brush she was holding while looking shocked
She exclaimed "Hey, what was that for, you could at least let me know you're back and not sneak up on me like that"
"Okay, sorry about that but what is all this" Jason motioned to what she was doing as he took in her appearance. She was dressed in a black shirt and black joggers but they've both been stained with splashes of paints of different colours and her face was stained too including the floor. Turns out she'd been busy painting.
"Oh, i noticed this place looks bland and figured I'd make a nice painting to hang around the house. Are you offended?" She asked. She had been working on the two paintings since lunch and had lost track of time. She just concluded the second one when he arrived
"No, I'm just uhm.. surprised that you can paint"
"Ooh, I'm actually good at it. Not to brag but I didn't even have any basic knowledge of it but I brushed my skills myself by painting regularly and I became good" Aurora said with a smug look while she looked at the first one. It was a painting of the residence from a side view. It showed the house from a side view featuring the tall trees surrounding the area with birds perching on them and the bright sky. The colours were so vivid and the whole painting reflected the thought of the painter- that she was happy. The painting was beautiful
"Wow, these are marvellous" Jason said awed at the paintings
"I know right, i could make a career out of this. God, I'll be so rich. I just need to look for rich people that doesn't have anything to use their money for and I'll charge them huge amounts. Maybe you can connect me with your boss. I've heard he's so rich and proud. Proud people love to show off" she said looking at Jason
"Proud?" Jason asked amused
"I don't really know but that's what the rumors say about him apart from the fact that he's so handsome but I wouldn't know, I've never seen him before but I'm sure if anybody's going to be more handsome than you are, then the person surely got a plastic surgery"
"What's your deal and assuming everyone got plastic surgeries. Did you get one yourself?" Jason teased
"What, no. I'm a natural beauty and I know it. Girls would die to have my type of beauty" she said with her stained face smiling and head held high
Jason stared at her intently. Even with her face all stained , she's still looks beautiful and she knew it. This made Jason recalled a statement that 'if a beautiful woman is aware of her beauty, there'd be trouble in paradise'.
"I call this one; The Hillview residence" Aurora said pointing at the first one "and I call this one 'night on a hill'" she said pointing at the one currently on the easel.
"If you want, I'll hang them somewhere around the house Tommorow" Aurora said looking at Jason
"Do whatever you want" Jason said still not taking his eyes off them. They're truly beautiful
"Eheh, I'd hug you right now but I'm all stained and ..yeah" she squealed out of excitement
"You can try" Jason smirked and later said "are you still craving cakes"
"Yes, why do you ask?"
"Well I bought one so go take a shower and come downstairs. I'll be waiting" Jason said as he walked out of her room
"Thanks" Aurora smiled at his retreating form as she began to clean the mess she made.
After she finished cleaning and making sure she scrubbed all the dried paints on the floor, she sprayed some air freshener and moved to place the paintings in her room side by side before going to take her bath.
Jason placed the cake on the dining table and began working on his laptop while waiting for Aurora. He'd taken a shower too and changed into a white shirt and black sweatpants with a grey night robe. Not too long after, Aurora came down looking all clean wearing a white shirt too and black shorts. Her hair was packed up in a ponytail as it always is. Jason smiled when he saw that she was wearing the same thing as him
"Is this a coincidence or what? That we're matching" Aurora asked as she began taking out all the pastries and putting them on the table
"I dunno, you tell me" Jason retorted
"What's that supposed to mean jacey" Aurora asked with a cheeky green as she laid emphasis on the nickname she'd given him
Jason ignored her and continued with his work.
"Oh my God, a marble cake? Thank you, thank you, thank you. How do you know my favourite cake was marble?" Aurora asked as she took a fork and began eating the cake
"The woman at the shop recommended it. Eat slowly, you didn't even take a drink" Jason scolded her as he walked towards the fridge to bring her a drink. He sat down after serving her
"I'm sorry, it's just that I've been craving this for days now and I'm famished at the moment" Aurora said as she took a sip out of the drink he brought her.
