Chapter 46

Jimin had just entered the sports venue and his eyes immediately searched anxiously among the players to see if his brother was on the court and as soon as Jungkook came into view his eyes opened wide in surprise.

"What the heck is he doing? Why is he playing so aggressively?" Jimin thought as at that moment he saw Jungkook's body flying in the air and nailing a basket.

A feeling of irritation was born within him as he realized that once again his brother had ignored every word he had said and he certainly didn't appreciate that he had ignored him. It wasn't the first time after all that neither he nor the rest of his siblings had listened to him and the truth was that it always bothered Jimin when he gave them medical advice and the rest of them didn't listen to him simply because he was part of the family and they were allowed to not take him seriously even when he was right.

Jimin's gaze followed Jungkook who luckily for him, landed on his feet and continued to walk back to his side of the field without showing any obvious weakness or any physical problem but Jimin knew better than to believe the lie his brother was trying to sell at that moment to everyone who had their eyes on him.

Though irritated Jimin, while watching him couldn't help but feel sad and sympathetic because he knew the importance of this sport to his brother as well as the importance of the team and this season.

He could still recall his mental state from last year when they had missed the chance to make it into the semi-finals. The frustration on Jungkook's face, the days of being locked in his room before he started practising for hours and hours on end, even the silence he fell into. It was all still fresh in Jimin's memory even though Jungkook hadn't said a word about his pain at the time, they all knew he was in pain.

Jimin's eyes were taken away from the stadium and searched the fan seats for SoYi who didn't take long to catch his eye and he quickly walked to the second floor of the stands and sat down in the seat next to her which she had reserved for him.

"How does his condition look so far?"He asked without even greeting her and though SoYi was a little startled at his abrupt appearance she pretty much informed him that things were not looking good for his brother. Though nothing had happened so far, SoYi knew that it was only a matter of time before Jungkook's body would break down and unfortunately, Jimin himself knew that too and that was the reason why he had told Jungkook so many times that he should take it easy and play as little as possible in this match.

But Jungkook who was in front of them, only taking it easy that he wasn't. His name flooded the atmosphere as he made basket after basket while his body seemed to be in constant motion each moment more intense than the next.
Until the referee, blew the whistle for a foul that suddenly occurred and Jungkook's body didn't take long to fall to the floor.

Once the two of them saw him in a heap, they couldn't help but get up from their seats, full of agony as his players approached him and he remained motionless even though the collision with his opponent was neither that painful nor seemed that serious. The reason why Jungkook could not move at that moment or even raise his head, which he had hidden under his hands, was not because the collusion had hurt him but it was because he was already in pain and this incident that had knocked him down was just a small obstacle to his heavy body which now refused to obey him.

"Get up. Get up, please... please... a few minutes left... get up." He spoke to himself as the words of the other players around him hadn't even managed to enter his head.

Jimin's voice called his name as loudly as he could and strangely enough for some reason, his voice did what the voices closer to him failed to do, and immediately Jungkook turned his head and faced SoYi and his brother to his left, who were full of worry and anxiety and for some reason he didn't like that look on their faces. That trail of pity that was hiding behind their eyes was annoying to Jungkook and without even thinking about it a second time his stubbornness overflowed and he found himself back on his feet.

"Let's finish this match. Take it easy" A teammate said to him as he tapped him lightly on the shoulder and Jungkook just turned his head towards the scoreboard and told himself that he might finally be able to catch his breath because his team was 10 points ahead but as soon as the player with number 13 came into his field of vision, he couldn't help but think that this thought was wrong. For he remembered well the last time he played against him. Jungkook remembered well how little that guy had used his energy during the game, and how in the end he gave it his all and got the win through their hands in that match before the semi-finals.

This match may have been a friendly one but for Jungkook, it was so much more than that. For him, it was a chance to prove to himself that he could do better and that the player who broke his ego and took the win through his own hands, that player who brought tears to his friends' eyes and scattered their dreams of the trophy. This player who so simply erased the hours of practice and hard work he and his teammates had put in. This player with the number 13 and this friendly match was a chance for Jungkook to declare to him that this year would not be the same. That this year neither he nor his team will be the ones that will be left in their shadow. And the grand prize this time will be theirs.

---Change of set---

Hoseok was sitting at his table and his eyes couldn't help but turn over and over again to the same place and more specifically, to Eleon who was sitting with a guy who looked younger the more he observed him. If he was to think about it, from his clothes alone Eleon's companion looked younger since Hoseok could not judge well by his face for he couldn't see him so clearly because of the distance.

This had made him think that it probably wasn't a date since it was a bit unusual for someone her age to be dating a young man who looked to be at most 18.

He was once again lost in his thoughts as his eyes were glued to Eleon's side until his phone vibrated and caught his attention.

As he lowered his gaze to the table and grabbed the phone he saw that the message that had arrived was from RiuMee who was sitting two chairs away from him.

He looked at her for a moment before opening the message and scanning what she had sent him.

- "Don't you think that you got over me too quickly?"
"Already staring at other girls while I'm here... don't you find it rude?"

A smile threatened to appear on Hoseok's lips when he read her message because it just seemed like she was annoyed and truth be told that fact would make him quite happy. Thankfully though, he didn't show his satisfaction and just replied to her text and then turned his attention to the business conversation which was still going on.

Out of the corner of his eye, he tried to pay attention to the expression on RiuMee's face because he just wanted to have fun and enjoy this moment when she was reading his reply and luckily it didn't take long for her to pick up her phone and see it.

- "Why? Did you think I would cry over you? You are not that important. As you can see for yourself, there are plenty of better women that can get my attention."

His answer might have been a bit of a stretch and not at all true but that was something he didn't want her to know and he no longer wanted to give even the slightest pleasure about the fact that she had hurt him.

It was her choice to leave him. It was her choice not to understand what she really meant to him. She was the one who blinded herself and failed to see that the importance and significance she sought and blamed him for not giving, he always had given it to her .

But he also had an ego, he also had a self-esteem, which he had stepped on quite a bit while he waited for her. An esteem that he no longer intended to let it be trampled upon by her or anyone, for any reason.

What if it hurt? It wasn't his first time and it probably wouldn't be his last. What was over was over, and he would simply go through the pain to find himself in a better tomorrow and a better day. A day where he would see her and no longer have feelings inside of him for her.
