what really happened to me..?

"maybe a little less free falling next time, yeah?" i joked as he rested me down onto the roof from his back with a low chuckle.

"not like i would've dropped you y/n." he said, laughing before sitting on the edge of the roof as i followed behind and did the same.

"soo..." he mumbled, still seemingly looking into the sky as the sunset. i looked back at him confused before he continued. "what's up with you and that miles kid?" he said. his gaze switched from the sky to me as i sighed and looked down at the city beneath me.

"to be honest, i don't really know." i muttered, before looking back up into the dimming sky. i quickly glanced at his head, which was facing towards me with and interested, and concerned look. even though i couldn't see his face, the eyes on his mask gave me enough understanding of his expressions.

"ever since he switched schools, it's just kind of like he pushing me away. i don't know what to do." i sighed, looking back at him. he stayed still in though for a second before turning his gaze to the city below us.

"and on his first day, we was talking about this girl he'd met, gwanda i think?" i said, toying with the hem of my pant pocket.

"maybe you should just tell him how you feel." he said, looking back at me.

"i doubt he'd feel the same." i groaned, leaning back onto the harsh texture of the roof, which weirdly brought me comfort.

"it just feels like ever since my dad..." i started, closing my eyes to not break down at the thought of him. "ever since he passed, everything's been going downhill." i said, staring up into the now deep, dark, orange sky, almost black.

"that's how i felt too. ever since my uncle. and also since my sister." i sighed, picking at the latex texture on his suit.

"listen y/n i promise, it gets better kid." he said looking back at me, turning his full body so he was now sitting with his back to the sun.

"you think i was this happy after their passings? i'm only happy because i met you, i met someone who understands." he said.

i smiled at him, before chuckling and speaking again. "will i ever know who you are?"

he sighed with a smile, turning back to face the now darker sky as i sat up next to him. "i'd love to tell you that, but it's just not safe."

i sighed and smiled understandingly as i also watched the sun slowly fall. "someday..." i mumbled as i looked at him quickly with a slight smile before looking back at the sun

we sat in comfortable silence for a while, around an hour, before he suddenly got a rushed feeling. "shit, y/n, i gotta go." he said quickly standing up and dusting himself off as i followed suit.

i nodded as i quickly hopped on his back and he swung down to an empty alleyway and rested me down. "get home safety alright?" he mumbled as he walked with me towards the sidewalk. i nodded and hummed a simple 'mhm' as we made it to the end of the alleyway and he got ready to swing to what ever he needed to.
