"okay, what about this?" i said, holding up a red dress in my hand.
miles stared for a second, before looking at me with squinted eyes. "no."
"whatt? why nott." i whined, setting down the 6th dress i'd shown him
"because." he said, looking around the store, annoyed that they didn't seem to have what he wanted, but i dont even think he knew what we were trying to look for.
i rolled my eyes and started walking around the narrow store. i must have zoned out when walking because when i went to go point out the perfect dress to miles, he was no longer right behind me, yet all the way at the cash register somehow.
i sighed with a smile and picked up the purple dress and made my way to where miles was.
as i made my way over there, i saw miles smile at the cashier and put something he'd purchased in his pocket, before turning towards my direction with a small smile on his face as he walked to me.
i saw the smile on his face grow a bit bigger and to be honest i may have seen a sparkle in his eye as he looked at the dress in my hand.
"this is beautiful." he said, grabbing it and looking at it. "better have sweatpants on under it 'cause i don't want any guys seein' you in it" he said. i rolled my eyes and laughed, taking the dress back and making my way over to the cash register.
"what if they try and take you from me when they see you in itt." he whined with a fake frown on his face making me laugh even harder as he grabbed my hand while we walked.
"i'llhave to kill them." he mumbled
i looked at him quickly with my smile dropping the slightest bit. "i'm jokingg" he said, wrapping his arm around my shoulder.
i know he's not joking, but somehow that makes me smile softly.

"you look amazing mija." my mom sighed as she rose up from her spot on the couch next to my dad, who was also looking at me in awe, as she made her way towards me.
she looked at my dress in complete awe before looking at me with even more love as she pulled me in for a soft hug.
"i can't believe how fast you grew" my dad joked as he also pulled me in for a hug.
i felt a rush of deja vu, remembering that this was exactly how they'd reacted for my date, and 18th birthday a couple months ago.
"i would say something about the crying, but i said you could save the waterworks for my graduation so." i said as i saw my mom smiling with tears and my dad having a downward smile on his face as i sniffled a bit, trying not to cry and ruin my makeup
