The starbucks waiter had put the drinks on the table. A grande latte for Mia and Mocha for Melanie. But they both just stared at the drinks in front of them, disturbed by what Melanie just said.
Mia regained her consciousness and decided to break the awkward silence. "What do you mean?".
"I mean that I'm gonna go find out the truth. This news that is not confirmed yet, I'll discover the truth". Melanie explained. Her hands fidget while being rested at the table. "And what after that?". Mia asked as she examined how nervous Melanie was at that moment.
"Well hopefully if the rumour is fake, we'll ask our gangs to sort out their differences and misunderstandings. We will ask them to give their blessings so that Noah and I can move forward in our lives". Melanie stated. "What if the rumour is real?". Mia said after clearing her throat.
Melanie finally looked up at her and then sadly she looked down again, as if thinking the best possible answer to give. "I don't know Mia.... I don't know. I just know that I love Noah, I love him so much and I just can't lose him". Her voice cracked at the end and then she started crying. She covered her eyes with her hands to prevent everyone from looking.
Mia felt really bad for her. She stood up and sat beside Melanie and hugged her tightly. "Hey, the Melanie I know isn't so weak. She's strong and she can pass through any complication. Alright? Just stay calm, everything's gonna be okay. We'll do this together okay? You and me, we'll fix this. You just tell me your plan". Mia said as she caressed Melanie's head.
They both calmed down and Melanie stopped crying but she was still upset and confused whether to do it or not. "Here, take your drink.. and let's figure out your plan". Mia passed her the drink.
Melanie sat straight, ready to explain the plan to Mia. "Honestly I am not sure if this is gonna work but, I'll try asking the police stations that are near to that place where the event took place, I'm sure someone knows something". Melanie said.
Mia gave it a thought while taking a sip of her latte. "Mmm.. do you know which place was that? We will first find out the number of police stations nearby and then one by one extract info". Mia said sounding excited.
"It took place in the Jardin de las Rosas Garden". Melanie said in a confident tone. "Okay let me just put it on google. And..... here we go, so there's only one police station near that garden, it's called Policia Municipal Morelia". Mia stated while scrolling through her phone. Melanie nodded and stood up from her seat.
"Where are you going?". Mia asked packing her stuff. "Police station. Let's go". Melanie and Mia both made their way to the police department.
