At Menecions Building

Noah's POV

The moment I burst through the doors of the Menecions building, my heart was racing uncontrollably. Panic surged through me with each step I took, my mind fixated on finding Melanie. I barely noticed the stunned looks from the men around me as I stormed past them, driven by a single purpose.

I reached the office, and my worst fears were confirmed. Melanie was tied to a chair, her eyes wide with a mixture of fear and relief. My heart ached at the sight. Without thinking, I rushed to her, throwing my arms around her, desperately trying to reassure myself and her.

"Melanie!" My voice cracked with emotion. "Are you okay? I'm so sorry."

She clung to me, her eyes welling with tears. "I'm okay, Noah."

Before I could fully process her words, I saw Matt and Lanny standing on either side of her, their guns pointed directly at her. My blood boiled with fury, and I moved toward them, ready to fight. But before I could act, Collin stepped in front of me, blocking my path.

"Wait, Noah!" Collin's voice was urgent. "You need to stay calm!"

"No!" I shouted, my eyes blazing. "They're threatening us. I can't just stand by!"

Collin's hand on my shoulder was firm and steady. "If you act out of anger now, it'll only make things worse. You need to think."

Panting, I took a step back, trying to contain the rage that threatened to consume me. My gaze shifted from Melanie to the men holding her captive. I could barely keep my anger in check.

"Grandpa," I said, turning to him, my voice strained. "What is this? Why did you do this?"

Elijah leaned back in his chair, his demeanor cold and calculated. "Noah, this was to make a point. Your disobedience has consequences, and I needed to ensure you that I can do anything to teach you loyalty."

My fists clenched tightly. "You think this is the way to handle things? Threatening the people I care about?"

Elijah's eyes were steely, unyielding. "You brought this upon yourself. I warned you there would be consequences for defying us. Now you must make a choice. Prove your loyalty and protect the ones you love."

"Noah, don't do it," Melanie pleaded, her voice breaking. "Please, don't let them use you."

I looked at her, her eyes filled with a desperate hope that I couldn't ignore. The choice I faced was agonizing. The desire to protect Melanie clashed violently with the reality of the situation I was trapped in.

"What do you want from me?" I asked, my voice low and resigned.

Elijah's lips curled into a satisfied smile. "We have a task for you. You will go undercover within the police force to destroy critical evidence and neutralize a key witness against the Menecions. This is your chance to prove your commitment to us."

The enormity of the task hit me hard, my heart sinking at the thought of what I had to do. "And if I refuse?"

Elijah's gaze was unyielding. "Then Melanie's situation will only get worse. You need to understand, Noah, there are consequences to every action."

I glanced at Melanie, her eyes pleading with me to refuse. The weight of the decision was crushing, but I knew I had no other choice if I wanted to keep her safe. My resolve hardened despite the pain in my chest.

The room was heavy with tension as Mr. Elijah leaned back in his chair, observing Noah with a cold, calculating gaze. Noah, his mind racing, felt the weight of his decision pressing down on him. His uncertainty was palpable, and Elijah noticed.
