I was stunned and I felt my body stiffened at his statement. "Mr. Duncan_",
Ofcourse I was interupted. "Don't sweat Melanie. I'm not planning on telling your father". He said and I was relieved at once and I think he sensed that because then he said. "But Melanie you shouldn't be taking risks like these. Do you have any idea what they could have done to you If they caught you". He completed his sentence with a sigh.
I exhaled deeply and was finding the right words to utter in this situation. I was angry. I was very angry at him. I know I shouldn't be because all he's trying to do is to protect me but that's insane. I can't just stay in this building and watch them unfurling brutality.
"I don't regret it". I blurted out and instantly regretted it after watching his reaction. He glared at me with his cold eyes. Those weren't the right words after all. "So now you act like you're smart". He sounded a little louder this time. He raised his hand and snapped his fingers at my face. "Minutes.. In a matter of minutes they will turn your life upside down and you won't even realise it".
I flinched at his raised voice. Tears started forming in my eyes but I tried not to spill them out. I was a little offended by his words. Does he think I'm that easy to be seized. "You are so naive that even if other gang members appear infront of you, you will not recognize them". He does.
"Melanie you are not trained which makes you an easy target. You can't defend yourself since you're not proficient in using weapons". He said and left the room slamming the door shut and I winced at the loud sound it made. I wanted to cry but I tried not to. I'm gonna meet Noah today and that's final.
When I checked the time it was 5:25 pm. Time to get ready. I quickly changed myself into a beautiful purple dress. It was covered with many sparkly stars.
I looked at myself in the mirror and applied some makeup as well. Without wasting anymore time I headed out of the building and signaled a cab to stop.
I was at starbucks waiting for Noah. I was kind of scared after my conversation with Mr. Duncan. Somehow he was right, I am not a normal girl and no matter how much I want it, my life can never be normal. I'm the daughter of John Walker. The John Walker, obviously his enemies are my enemies.
And as much as I was offended by Mr. Duncan's words. He is right. I'm an easy prey. Every member of the gang is required to pass the training session. But I managed to forgo my training. And now here I am, unskilled member or should I say an unskilled daughter of a highly trained father.
My phone vibrated. I checked the text message and it was from Noah.
Noah: I'm here. Do you want me to come inside?
Melanie: No I'm coming.
I drank the last sip of my coffee, paid the bill and quickly headed out. I spotted Noah's car and made my way to his car. Before I could open the door myself, I watched him got out of the car and came all the way to the passenger seat to open my door. What a gentlemen. I smiled at him before settling inside his car.
